Welcome back, Mac! Great to see a Spanish translation commencing. Way to go! That is so cool. Let's keep the date format as it is on the home page. I like its simplicity. -- Sterling SilverThunder 15:30, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

My hosting company installed a spamblock script, which will hopefully keep the auto-spammers, and other professional spammers at bay. I've removed the "protect" status from most of the main pages. If you happen to notice a page still under "protect," that doesn't need to be, go ahead and remove it. Just put your initials (mac is fine) in for the reason. SilverThunder 22:09, 25 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Requests for Expansion

Nice feature. Perhaps you could link to it from the following key pages:

- home

- directory

- powerpedia

- latest

I notice that one of the links is configured There was an error working with the wiki: Code[4] in which the contents are from Wikipedia. You might check that to make sure the link is externalized if necessary, or that the corresponding page be created here.

Keep up the great work. -- SilverThunder 16:29, 24 Oct 2005 (EDT)

I have created a {| class="Talk-Notice"

: Very good. This is a great idea. I'm so glad to see someone aboard who is conversant in mediawiki markup. I also appreciate your proactivity. Keep it up. -- SilverThunder 17:49, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

Awesome! I like the idea. Apparently it's not quite functioning right yet. Perhaps we should pull down the link from the Latest page (and anywhere else it is posted) until we have it running right. If it's going to happen it will be because of you figuring it out. There really isn't anyone else participating on this wiki who is wiki knowledgeable outside you and I, and I don't know how to do that (generate and automatic feed). I would imagine there would be support for this on the mediawiki site(s). SilverThunder 14:51, 23 Oct 2005 (EDT)

: I have joined the There was an error working with the wiki: Code[1] email list. I have seen something in . Regards. --Mac 16:42, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

Hi Mac, I need to ask you a favor. We were hit last night by a spammer. I've removed access from two of the usernames used, but have not had time to go in and revert the second batch of pages hit. Would you mind going in and doing that? I've been up all night launching SilverThunder 07:41, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

: I do what I saw and protected some sensible pages (you can review). I like the new site. Ahead with the good work! Regads. --Mac 08:15, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:: Much thanks. I prefer not to review. Don't have time right now. Let's not protect the acetone page. That one needs to be open. SilverThunder 08:54, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:::Yes, you are right. I haven't protected it.--Mac 12:53, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:::: I took care of the most recent round of spam-attack. Our hosting service is in process of installing a spamblock script that will hopefully block things like this.

:::: Favor: Would you mind installing an RSS Reader on your computer and subscribe to PESWiki RSS so you can help me stay ahead of the spammers, and keep an eye on the posts as they come along? (See my comment about "glossary" below as well) SilverThunder 15:56, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:::::I have There was an error working with the wiki: Code[2] installed and I am going to try the RSS ) Which is the web address to include in Liferea? . Regards. --Mac 19:51, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:::::: I had to put a protect on pages linked from the home page, becaue of this repeat attack, until we get our spamblock patch installed. SilverThunder 02:32, 23 Oct 2005 (EDT)

::::::: I agree. I have created Latest/Entry, so the user can suggest new entries for Latest page. --Mac 07:44, 23 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:::::::: Way to go. You are so on the ball. It would be good to do this for our Acetone page too. We get a lot of activity there. Would you mind doing it? SilverThunder 14:51, 23 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Glossary and Priorities

Mac, let's create a new "department" and call it "Glossary." There we will post reference material that is not necessarily energy-related, but which needs to be referenced for understanding energy. I would put UTC there -- Glossary:UTC, for example.

As a general principle there are other resources such as wikipedia who are doing an excellent job covering these topics, and we should just refer to them, where they can be built and expanded.

At PESWiki we need to focus on building areas that are not receiving adequate attention elsewhere. Things that Wikipedia will not allow on their site (outside the box), for example, but which are meritorious.

One of the big tasks is coordinating the three directories by sister sites, all under our direction:

and now

Perhaps you could help us coordinate these.

Eventually, freeenergynews directory will go null and redirect to, once the counterpart is fully ready (has the same amount of content, presented well).

I do think, though, that the wiki still has its place. We'll kind of have to see how well takes, versus peswiki interms of user participating. At a minimum, we can have the wiki as a place for people to post things who know how to use a wiki, then we can move that content onto the main director at

Please keep this explanation I have just given, and perhaps even copy it over to the "welcome to wiki users" page I created the other day.

Catch you around. SilverThunder 16:54, 22 Oct 2005 (EDT)

: Now that I see what you're doing with the UTC clock, I realize that probably a better place for tah would be "Tools:UTC" If it's not too hard, let's move it there. If you have the UTC clock in too many places calling it at Glossary:UTC, then let's just leave it. SilverThunder 14:53, 23 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:: Yes, I move it to tools . In any case, I can redirect from Glossary: to Tools: Regards. --Mac 16:43, 21 Nov 2005 (EST)

The Wikinews thing you added to the beginning of the Latest page goes to a "file not found" page before resolving to WikinewsEnergy, which is empty of any contents.

I think a better place for that web part would be on the News page.

The Latest page here is dedicated to recent developments at PESWiki.

SilverThunder 03:17, 20 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:Thank you.You are right. I put it in the news page and improve the wikinews template. We could add a link to our page, so the people that look for news in wikinews can go to PESWiki too. --Mac 04:50, 20 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Welcome aboard! It's good to see someone conversant in Mediawiki markup contribute to PESWiki. I hope you stick around for a long time. We could use your expertise. You know more about it than I do, from what I can see of your entries here today. I may be asking you tech support questions, if you don't mind.

I'm making you a sysop-bureacrat.

One thing I might point out about how we operate this site is that we have several departments into which we partition the articles. OS: is for open source projects, News: is for news items, Directory: is for indeces on a particular topic, PowerPedia: is for encyclopedic articles on a subject, Academy: is for courses being developed on a topic, Congress: is for new energy congress related pages, etc.

That is why I moved your Toyota Prius article to PowerPedia:Toyota Prius.

Also, unlike at Wikipedia, we do not require external links to be relegated to the end of the article in one section, but welcome them wherever they are needed.

One of the features that I like to use here at PESWiki is the "Latest" page. We post the three most recent significant pages posted on the home page, as well as on the Latest page, then archive those pages. Perhaps you could help me keep that current. You have access to the home page with your sysop rights.

Feel free to contact me through the various means: phone, im, wiki, email.

And Congress:Member:Sterling D. Allan

Keep up the great work.

I've used this comment to you as the basis for a long-overdue page

Help:To Mediawiki-conversant Users

-- SilverThunder 21:39, 19 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Thank you a lot for this good wellcome. Now I am going to work more and more for PESWiki, because I believe the future is PowerPedia:Biodiesel, PowerPedia:Hybrid Vehicles and PowerPedia:Solar Energy. Regards.--Mac 02:05, 20 Oct 2005 (EDT)

And soon, I think you will see that there are a good many clean energy technologies beside just biodiesel, hybrid vehicles and solar energy -- like dozens and dozens that are just brimming, ready to come forward, and coming forward.

Please bear in mind the we try to keep our focus here on cutting edge energy technologies which are not getting fair representation elsewhere because they are too "fringy". Mavericks R Us.

I started this site because the stuff I was submitting to Wikipedia was being deleted and scoffed.

So as a general rule, if Wikipedia covers it well, we link to them. What we cover in depth is what Wikipedia wont, though clearly there is going to be substantial overlap.

Eventually, I would like PESWiki to be the preferred alternative energy wiki. SilverThunder 03:11, 20 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Thanks for your entries today. Keep up the great work. SilverThunder 23:40, 20 Oct 2005 (EDT)

:No, thank you because of offer us a great information and formation site named PESWiki. Regards.--Mac 01:32, 21 Oct 2005 (EDT)

Welcome Back

It's good to see you back.
