The Skystream 3.7 wind generator is the very first fully-integrated wind generator designed specifically for the grid-connected residential market. With no batteries, Skystream 3.7 connects directly to the home to supply power. When the wind is not blowing, the home is powered by the electric utility.

It's output is AC (not DC, so it needs no inverter) and is designed for mainstream America (i.e. grid connected with no batteries). And, it's 1/3 of the cost of any other wind turbine for a comparable amount of output in kWh. Although it's rated at 1.8 kW, it generates more energy over a wider range of wind speeds, including low wind, than other wind turbines. Plus, it's nearly silent (much slower RPM than other wind turbines creates almost no noise and is 'bird friendly') with no maintenance and an expected life of 20+ years. I've installed four (4) of them already, and the results are as good or better than the manufacturer claims. Our customers love this product.

You could charge batteries or make hydrogen with the SkyStream if you chose to integrate the system. You could use it off-grid if necessary, though it is designed to eliminate the hassles of battery maintenance.
I would say it is the #1 technology available for the consumer.
