"What might appear to be empty space is, therefore, a seething ferment of virtual particles. A vacuum is not inert and featureless, but alive with throbbing energy and vitality. A 'real' particle such as an electron must always be viewed against this background of frenetic activity. When an electron moves through space, it is actually swimming in a sea of ghost particles of all varieties – virtual leptons, quarks, and messengers, entangled in a complex mêlée. The presence of the electron will distort this irreducible vacuum activity, and the distortion in turn reacts back on the electron. Even at rest, an electron is not at rest: it is being continually assaulted by all manner of other particles from the vacuum."

The film is the brainchild and labor of love work of Tony Craddock, who is highly dedicated to getting a film record of the vacuum energy efforts – at least some of them – prepared so that the information does not just "fade away" with an inventor or researcher when he dies. In the past, many inventors and researchers did succeed in getting at least working prototypes of such energy-from-the-vacuum devices, but their knowledge and developed skills faded with them when they passed on. Since there was no formal theory – even a conceptual one – tied to good physics that could explain their results, most of these researchers also developed and used their own concepts and lexicon, usually not fitted to modern physics itself. So two things were missing: (1) a physics of extracting and using energy from the vacuum/spacetime, and (2) a proper physics lexicon for energy-from-the vacuum, that uses proven concepts from fore-front physics tied to proven physics experiments. http://www.cheniere.org/techpapers/bearden5.pdf
In addition to documenting some of the units actually developed by various inventors and researchers, Tony is also trying to capture these two long-missing and sorely-needed physics aspects. He is also capturing the heartfelt human side of these researchers, who for decades struggle doggedly against great odds, with little or no funding, and often against the harsh disbelief and even condemnation of the organized scientific community. The film series is still an ongoing work, but quite a few hours of the filming have been done, especially under the auspices of award-winning director and film-maker William Gazecki.
So quite a bit of the filming has been done, and editing on these segments continues, as does the filming of the rest of the series. The first two hours released is a sort of summary that gives the flavor, the orientation, and the intent of the film, and that shows the type of researchers captured on the film along with their work.
There are a variety of very good, recognized scientists also included in the film, so that the concepts and technical information presented cover a variety of viewpoints and findings by these and other scientists. Some very good theoreticians in physics, electrodynamics, and thermodynamics are also filmed, lending real technical substance to the documentation.
Presently the escalating energy crisis of the world is apparent to most everyone. We have an "energy" crisis only because – other than for a few environmental energy sources such as flowing rivers, solar radiation, and winds – our present very archaic 1880s/1890s electrical power science insists that one must consume fuel, such as hydrocarbons or nuclear fuel rods. The problem arises then because the hydrocarbon and nuclear fuel supplies are topping off while the worldwide energy demand continues to increase quite rapidly. This situation gives us an "energy from fuel" problem because we have an increasing shortage of fuel problem.
Accompanying the "fuel supply" problem is also one of the increasingly severe impact of our "energy from fuel" power systems on the fragile environment, and the increasing contributions to global warming. It appears that our biosphere simply cannot withstand the presently projected impacts of the situation, and that very harsh effects can be expected in only a few years from now.
The proposed "solution" by our own scientific community covers a variety of conventional things, such as building more great windmill farms, solar cell array systems, etc. as well as developing fuels from grains, fuel cells, hydrogen as a fuel, etc. In addition, a very strong effort is underway to produce large numbers of new nuclear power plants worldwide. The large power consortiums themselves, who actually contract and furnish the power solutions purchased and applied, largely are building new coal-fired power plants because in many parts of the world coal is the only dependable fuel that is available locally and thus cannot be shut off by distant events or by natural catastrophes such as Hurricane Katrina. In China alone, e.g., a coal-burning power plant per week is entering the power picture, and hardly any of these take any measures to reduce the dirty-burning and pollution.
The present electrical engineering model used in all our electrical power systems was formulated (largely by Heaviside) in the 1880s, after Maxwell died in 1879. Heaviside’s theory was a very sharp truncation of Maxwell’s original 1865 theory, and even this small subset was further truncated twice more by Lorentz in 1892 and 1900. In 1892 Lorentz arbitrarily symmetrized the already-truncated Heaviside equations, thereby arbitrarily discarding all asymmetrical Maxwellian systems. This giant discarded class of asymmetrical EM systems includes all those systems which could and would extract and use EM energy from the vacuum environment, since such systems are asymmetrical a priori. They were inadvertently discarded by Lorentz, and they are still discarded by all our electrical engineering departments, professors, and textbooks.
The resulting highly crippled model taught to all our electrical engineers and used in all our electrical power systems thus formally excludes the "energy from the active vacuum/spacetime" solution to the energy crisis. Nature did not and does not exclude the solution Lorentz excluded it arbitrarily and all our electrical engineering departments, professors, and textbooks still do, following Lorentz symmetrized equations and model. Rigorous proof that violating that Lorentz-symmetry condition does allow energy currents in the vacuum which can be tapped and used by EM systems, is given by M. W. Evans et al., "Classical Electrodynamics without the Lorentz Condition: Extracting Energy from the Vacuum," Physica Scripta, Vol. 61, 2000, p. 513 -517.
The Lorentz-truncated Heaviside theory is still taught today in all our universities as "Maxwell’s theory", but it is only a pale shadow of that theory. Also, all the theory was put together before most of the discoveries of modern physics even existed, and those discoveries have falsified many of the foundations assumptions of the Heaviside-Lorentz model itself. But the archaic model used in all our electrical power engineering has never been corrected to eliminate the falsities it contains, even though many of its fundamental foundations assumptions have been falsified by the march of physics since the 1880s. [Indeed, one cannot even find a textbook that simply lists and discusses the foundations assumptions in the model!] Eminent scientists such as Feynman, Wheeler, Margenau, Bunge and many others have pointed out these EM model falsities, to no avail. Our scientific community has consistently refused to upgrade and modernize the electrical engineering model, even though more advanced systems of electrodynamics have long been developed in physics, particularly for particle physics.

The CEM/EE model used in all our electrical power engineering still erroneously assumes an inert vacuum, a flat spacetime, force fields in mass-free space, force-field EM waves in space, etc. It also ignores the severe implications of its arbitrary Lorentz-symmetrization. It also erroneously excludes taking and using excess energy from the vacuum, since it assumes the vacuum has no energy at all.
Lee and Yang predicted broken symmetry in physics, which due to its great importance resulted in its rapid experimental proof by Wu. et al. and a very rapid award of a Nobel Prize to Lee and Yang in 1957. This was a giant revolution in physics, whose implications for electrical power engineering have continued to be ignored by our EE departments and textbooks.
Nobelist Lee also tentatively indicated that science had just ignored vacuum engineering and its uses, which could be very novel and produce very novel results. These results particularly involved transducing virtual state energy into observable state energy. Quoting Lee:
"Since nonobservables imply symmetry, any discovery of asymmetry must imply some observable. The experiment of Wu, Ambler, Hayward, Hoppes and Hudson… established the asymmetry between the positive and negative signs of electricity." T. D. Lee, Symmetries, Asymmetries, and the World of Particles, U. Wash. Press, Seattle, 1988, p. 11.
"…the violation of symmetry arises whenever what was thought to be a non-observable turns out to be actually an observable." [T. D. Lee, Particle Physics and Introduction to Field Theory, Harwood Academy Publishers, Chur, New York, and London, 1981, p. 181.]
On any dipole exhibiting such a proven broken symmetry:
"…the discoveries made in 1957 established not only right-left asymmetry, but also the asymmetry between the positive and negative signs of electric charge." [[T. D. Lee, ibid., 1981, p. 184].
On conditioning the vacuum, Lee states:
"…by applying over a large volume any matter source J which has a linear interaction with f(x), we may hope to create a domain structure in < f(x) >. Depending on the dynamical theory, such domains may also remain as physical realities, even after the matter source J is removed." [T. D. Lee, ibid., 1981, p. 382].
"…we have avoided the opportunity to study coherent phenomena which may be connected with the vacuum. …The experimental method to alter the properties of the vacuum may be called vacuum engineering. … If indeed we are able to alter the vacuum, then we may encounter some new phenomena, totally unexpected." [[T. D. Lee, ibid., 1981, p. 826. Particularly see Lee’s own indication of the possibility of using vacuum engineering, in his "Chapter 25: Outlook: Possibility of Vacuum Engineering," p. 824-828.].
Summarizing Lee’s remarks: The virtual state vacuum energy can be engineered, and in broken symmetry we have the situation where some of that virtual energy of the seething virtual state vacuum fluctuations can be engineered and transduced into observable EM energy.
But to use the vacuum energy in asymmetrical circuits and systems, one must have a retranslation of the present 1800’s concepts and language of electrical engineering into modern vacuum engineering concepts from particle physics. Cranking the shaft of the generator has nothing directly to do with the flow of EM energy that pours from the terminals of the generator and flows out along through space outside the external conductors. Instead, cranking the shaft of the generator causes rotor rotation, which transduces the mechanical shaft rotational energy into the rotating magnetic field energy inside the generator itself. Since transformation of the form of energy is rigorously the definition of work, then the transformation of the mechanical shaft input energy into the rotating magnetic field energy is the work we have to do on the generator by cranking its shaft. The rotating magnetic field energy created inside the generator then is dissipated on the charges inside that generator, forcing opposite charges in opposite directions and thereby forming the fundamental source dipole inside the generator, with its resulting proven broken symmetry of opposite charges. In turn, the broken symmetry of that source dipolarity absorbs virtual state energy from its vacuum interaction, transduces it into observable energy, and thus emits the real, observable EM energy flow that pours out of the generator terminals and through space along the external circuit.
If one would simply leave the source dipole alone, once it is made and the price for making it is paid, then by its proven broken symmetry that dipole will continuously extract virtual energy from its vacuum interaction and integrate it to continuously output real observable EM energy flow from the generator terminals, indefinitely and freely.
Instead, our arbitrarily symmetrized "intercept and collection" external circuits remain wired to the generator, and they use half their freely collected energy to do nothing but pump the current back through the back emf of the generator, scattering its source dipole charges and destroying the source dipole (thereby cutting off the free flow of EM energy from the vacuum). Hence we have to keep cranking the shaft of that generator to keep reforming the internal source dipole, that our symmetrized electrical engineering circuit keeps destroying faster than it powers the loads.
So we always have to continuously input shaft energy to restore the dipole, that our engineers specifically design the circuit to continually destroy. And so we have to burn all the fuel etc. just to furnish the shaft energy to restore the source dipole – not to directly power the external circuit! In short, we pay our electrical engineers and our power companies to engage in a giant wrestling match inside the generator and always deliberately lose.
The film is a major effort, spearheaded by Tony Craddock personally, to try to document and preserve both the experimental efforts and theoretical efforts of researchers and inventors struggling to break the "energy from fuel" approach and turn it into "energy from the vacuum". When and if that effort is finally successful, that will solve (cheaply and cleanly) the present "energy from fuel" crisis forever. And by documenting at least a good part of the major effort in this area, Tony hopes to guarantee that the decades of hard work by each inventor and researcher are not lost when he or she dies, but are preserved and passed along to the young inventors and researchers coming on.
In my opinion, it is a noble and greatly humane effort by Tony Craddock, and I sincerely applaud his stringent efforts to preserve and nurture the work and progress in this "field that is not yet a recognized field".

Also in The Scientific Papers of James Clerk Maxwell, 2 vols. bound as one, edited by W. D. Niven, Dover, New York, 1952, Vol. 1, p. 526-597. Two errata are given on the unnumbered page prior to page 1 of Vol. 1. In this paper Maxwell presented his seminal theory of electromagnetism, containing 20 equations in 20 unknowns. His general equations of the electromagnetic field are given in "Part III, General Equations of the Electromagnetic Field," p. 554-564. On p. 561, he lists his 20 variables. On p. 562, he summarizes the different subjects of the 20 equations, being three equations each for magnetic force, electric currents, electromotive force, electric elasticity, electric resistance, total currents and one equation each for free electricity and continuity.

A very small illustration of extraordinarily important modern things that can be gleaned from the interesting properties of the original Maxwell equations is given by A. Tip in matters of wave propagation [J. Math. Phys., Vol. 47, 012902: 2006] by associating the equations with unitary time evolution. It can be shown, e.g., that there is a decoupling of the equations of motion for the longitudinal and transverse field components of a wave propagating through a dielectric material. It is expected that the same approach may well provide a fresh view on the mathematical description of nonlinear dielectrics, a subject not widely explored so far. Tesla was aware that not all of electrical engineering could be understood mathematically, (as James Clerk Maxwell also was aware). Maxwell spent six (6) years of this life sequestered on his estate in Scotland formulating his equations, from Michael Faraday’s original Royal Institution lectures. Tesla, using Maxwell’s original equations was able to perform marvelous energy transformations in asymmetric circuits, that could not be accomplished in the (Heaviside) symmetricized circuits championed by Morgan, which is what has become known as the standard electrical system.
Inventors need to be aware that a rigorous ‘control’ paradigm put in place by J. P. Morgan is still in effect. One needs to think outside of the box, and one needs to be aware of the significant suppression that is still prevalent even today.
