Hot Fusion finally breaks even -- far, far behind

Fernando Lins from Brazil brought this to my attention.

Nature Reports: Fuel gain exceeding unity in an inertially confined fusion implosion (February 12, 2014)

: Ignition is needed to make fusion energy a viable alternative energy source, but has yet to be achieved. A key step on the way to ignition is to have the energy generated through fusion reactions in an inertially confined fusion plasma exceed the amount of energy deposited into the deuterium–tritium fusion fuel and hotspot during the implosion process, resulting in a fuel gain greater than unity. Here we report the achievement of fusion fuel gains exceeding unity on the US National Ignition Facility using a ‘high-foot’ implosion method, which is a manipulation of the laser pulse shape in a way that reduces instability in the implosion. These experiments show an order-of-magnitude improvement in yield performance over past deuterium–tritium implosion experiments. We also see a significant contribution to the yield from ?-particle self-heating and evidence for the ‘bootstrapping’ required to accelerate the deuterium–tritium fusion burn to eventually ‘run away’ and ignite.

This is elaborated in TheHindu:

We’re one step closer to nuclear fusion but still miles away

But "cold fusion" or LENR as it is now more frequently called, still mislabeled "junk science" by mainstream science, achieved overunity long ago, and the leading companings bringing it to market are in the region of 6-10x. The hot fusion world is still a decade and many more billions of dollars away from anything commercial, while three LENR companies are looking to go commercial (product available) in 2014. Relevance: Directory:Nuclear > Directory:Christopher Strevens Nuclear Reactor / Directory:Electromagnetic > Directory:Kapanadze Free Energy Generator

I got the following fax this evening from Christopher Strevens.

: Dear Sir,

: The Kapanadze device takes its energy from the nuclear reaction of the nuclear fusion of deuterium in air. See my web page URL where I am attempting to construct a similar device. He uses air at NTP with huge coils, probably RF, thus generating conducting plasma inside the winding. I use low pressure air (to be replaced later by hydrogen) ionized by a plasma generator that is turned off once the reaction starts. My previous generated 2 KW briefly. Neutrons are generated by the d+d > He+n reaction.

: He got there first. My finances are limited.

You can donate to him via PayPal to christopher.strevens{at} (replace @)

Here's a recent skype conversation:

: [1/30/2014 7:51:08 AM] Sterling D. Allan: Hi Christopher

: [1/30/2014 10:53:02 PM] Christopher Strevens: Hi, my unit is quite successful but I have to rebuild it.

: [1/30/2014 10:54:07 PM] Christopher Strevens: I am in detention at present, I think because of attacks by christians. I have made up with them now and hope to return home soon. I am getting leave to travel home so I can do some work.

: [1/30/2014 11:00:28 PM] Christopher Strevens: I heard of a unit that ran on deuteroim that generatd 200MW on russia today but the report came from the usa

: [1/30/2014 11:04:02 PM] Sterling D. Allan: do you have a url/link for that? gnight

: [1/30/2014 11:05:21 PM] Christopher Strevens: no. it was linked to a manned flight to mars but people on tv are talking about it to replace oil

: [1/30/2014 11:05:46 PM] Christopher Strevens: but it may have been only theory

: [1/30/2014 11:07:25 PM] Christopher Strevens: my unit gives 10^18 iw [kw?] in theory

: [1/30/2014 11:08:07 PM] Christopher Strevens: it is a pulsed neutron and neutrino source also

: [1/30/2014 11:08:55 PM] Christopher Strevens:

: [1/30/2014 11:10:21 PM] Christopher Strevens: made me ill with radiation sickness and the neighbors

: [1/30/2014 11:10:56 PM] Christopher Strevens: I got thrown out at knife point.

: [1/30/2014 11:11:32 PM] Christopher Strevens: that is why I am in a detention centre

You can't accuse us exotic free energy connoisseurs of lacking in any drama!

Update, February 14 18:45 GMT

: [2/13/2014 11:56:42 PM] Christopher Strevens: By tomorrow I should have the kit to bring the pressure down to the critical level

More info coming. Did a brief interivew today. Stay tuned.

MidTech turbine not their design

'The turbine MidTech has been selling and shows on their site is made in China and wasn't designed by MidTech.'

Yesterday, we reported:

MidTech poised to meet with Seimens about turbine - Doug says he gets "to meet the big boss of Siemens next week. He said he liked our turbines and would like to see them." (Free Energy Blog February 11, 2014)

Then today, Thomas Buyea pointed out that the MidTech turbine (which they are representing as being their design) is identical to one being sold at eBay.

I posted notification of this on their Facebook page Then a couple of hours later, Doug sent me a Facebook message: "What is it with you? One minute you say that you like our company the next you make us sound like frauds. That's it. I have had it."

By the time I tried to respond: "Help me understand. Is there not a 100% correlation between your design and the one on eBay?" he had blocked me from being able to communicate. I also left a voice message on his phone, and sent him an email with a link to this report. No reply yet.

- - - -

The only way I can see this is that he's been caught portraying something as a MidTech design that is not. This perfidy certainly casts a dark shadow on MidTech.

Speaking of shadows, an hour later, this is what appeared for the MidTech Facebook page:

Image:140212-4-15pm MidTech page-unavailable rd.gif

Actually, I get that because Doug has blocked me.

Here's an email from Thomas:

: Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2014 3:28 PM [mountain]

: Subject: RE:

: OK First I am sorry to always be the one bringing bad news, But sometimes when I find a way to prove an inventor is lying I can not help myself.

: OK

: First I suspected the Mid-Teck black box of being too good to be true early on. Then, when they came up with the more or less standard excuse that some better parts were needed and that was holding up a real test that allowed neutral parties to examine and detect any hidden input, I was almost sure then ?

: Then they started to try to mix up people following their work by mixing in solar cells, windmills and even a natural gas generator into the mix. [Correction. They were doing this prior to the Black Box.]

: Then I saw some large corporation was supposable interested in their wind mill generator ?

: !! Why ? First it was just one of about a hundred companies making small wind mill generators and I know what something that is commercially made looks like, And I was sure they did not make that wind mill they sent you a picture of in the small shop they showed photos of.

: So first, I went to Google "image search" and started looking for a small windmill with that exact tail rudder design. I did not find it. I then went to Bing image search and about ten screens down I found the matching photo and clicked on the photo and found the link I sent to you. I did the search using "small home Wind turbine electric (or electrical) generator", and looked at the rear rudder of each similar wind mill until I found it.

: If you go find it on Bing it should include the link I sent you underneath the photo. (:^))

: So because of this I assume you like me know that their black box is totally fake?

: Tom, Miami

Does this mean that their "Black Box" is also busted? Not necessarily. It certainly casts doubt on it, but I wouldn't be surprised either way. They may have stumbled onto the QMoGen independently, as so many others seem to have done.

Feb. 13, 2014 2:25 am GMT update

According to Thomas, Doug posted the following to his Facebook page (slightly edited):

: I want to make this perfectly clear. We are not associated with or partnered with Sterling Allan or his pure energy website in any way. We do not receive donations from that site towards our project. [Sterling's correction: we never represented that we were receiving donations for MidTech, only for our trip to validate, and toward my purachasing a Black Box.] That is money that goes directly to him. As of today I have cut all ties with him in any way, shape or form. We will be locating another 3rd party team to verify the black box when it is done. Thank you for your understanding.

And here is and excerpt of what he wrote to me by email (slightly edited [mostly adding punctuation]):

: From: midtechenergy

: To: Sterling Allan

: Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2014 6:13 PM

: Subject: RE: BUSTED: MidTech turbine not their design

: Sterling, I have absolutely nothing to say to you. I assure you everything is in order. [...] You didn't even ask me about the turbines in question. [correction: I tried to reach him by Facebook message, phone, and email]. You just went and plastered a fabricated story [eBay link = "fabricated story"?] all over the Internet. When I saw it and blocked you from Facebook you then called when I was with a customer and now print this that we are busted. [That wasn't printed. It was in a private email.] You have alot to learn, my friend, about how business is run. [...] Please remove any material that pertains to me or my company from your website.

: We have already secured another 3rd party to verify our black box. You just made a huge career mistake, because of every company out there that you so-called tried to help with alternative energy, we were the one to finally back up your claims of self sustainable energy.

: Our product will sell with or without Sterling, so we don't need you. You needed us to prove it was possible so you could finally quiet all of the Sterling haters. You have no idea how close we are to release. I'm glad that we finally learned your true nature now. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

: Once again please remove any and all references of myself or my company from your website.

We will be keeping our coverage of MidTech in tact, as a historic reference for anyone doing due diligence.

I replied:

: A simple explanation of why the turbine shown on your site is identical to the one being sold at eBay would be beneficial to you, as we have many people who read our site who would appreciate knowing this information.

: My agenda is to help get exotic free energy technologies to market. I'm sorry that our chemistry has not worked very well.

February 13, 2014 14:10 GMT update:

Tom brought to my attention the following, which is a link to the manufacturer of this turbine design: - Guangzhou Gnern Energy Technology Co., Ltd. - China Manufacturer with main products: Solar Panel, Wind Turbine, Small Wind Power, Solar Power System, Home Wind Power, Wind Turbine Generator, Solar Energy System,... Model Number: GN-300W FOB Price: 100-150 USD/Set Brand Name: gnern

Here's a distributor site: - Small Wind turbine 300w 100w 50w wind power generator/windmill/system+wind solar hybrid controller. Supplier - Shenzhen Green Electricity Kang.

February 13, 2014 15:20 GMT update:

The comments being posted on the MidTech facebook page make it sound like I was being deceptive in asking for donations, making it sound like they were for MidTech. I wanted to clarify this, so I had JD post something to the following effect on my behalf:

: I can see why people would be confused, if they are not familiar with PES (Pure Energy Systems), run by Sterling Allan as a news and directory service for nearly 12 years. However, to be fair, I think it is clear that Sterling's intention was not to deceive. The wording, from his vantage point was clear: "p.s. We're running dangerously low here at PES. Donations are greatly appreciated. Thx! " That was not intended to trick, but was a clear reference to PES as being the one in need of donations.

Here is a screen shot of what John Dow posted:

A few seconds later, Doug had banned JD from his Facebook page, for posting this comment that politely set the record straight and showed that it was a misunderstanding on the part of those not familiar with PES, not malice on my part.

This shows Doug's nature, and raises additional red flags about his integrity, or lack thereof.

: Thetall Dave: I'm thinking the 5kw package is my best bet to start with?

: MidTech Energy: Just let Chris know when you are ready. He will take good care of ya.

: David Zweig: The solar and turbines, especially for the $25,000 10 kW system, can't be just for charging backup batteries. How about having the solar and turbines go towards powering the house, either alone or along with the grid when the grid is up? All three would end up as fungible AC charging the house, and "charging the batteries" would be like any other "appliance" in the house. Whenever the AC dips due to the grid being cut off and solar/ turbine not supplying enough, the batteries would automatically kick in making up the difference.

: Yesterday at 12:04pm · Like

: MidTech Energy: David Zweig on a system that size you could power a house with a transfer switch

: David Zweig: Doesn't a 10 kW natural gas backup generator cost about $5,000 installed? What are your selling points for the 2 kW Dominator which costs $6,500 and powers only a few things in the house? Is the transfer switch not economical for this small of a unit, meaning the solar/ turbine can't be used at all for powering the house during the 99% of time that the grid is up? Does the $6,500 include costs for installing and wiring the solar and turbine?

: MidTech Energy: Yes but then you have a natural gas bill as well. The turbine and solar come as plug and play so yes you would just plug them in to the box and that's it no further pay out for natural gas or anything.

: MidTech Energy: The 10kw system would come with a transfer switch to wire it into the house.

: David Zweig: Costs such as roof installation for solar and cement installation for turbine out in the yard, along with wiring costs leading thereto.

: MidTech Energy: There may be a few added costs each setup is different we have to evaluate it on a sale by sale basis. Please check around on a 10kw wind and solar system you will see we are the cheapest by far in the nation. I don't have a reputation for screwing my customers and I don't care to start now. If I said yes it covers everything and then you want the turbine 1000 feet from your house then I would have to eat the cost of trenching and wiring etc. I'm not gonna do that we have to make some kind of profit. Our price reflects that. My closest competitor where I live charges 40,000 dollars for a 4 kw system installed. We are very generous on our pricing.

: Christopher A Jordan: Amen! I also conquer.

: William Paul Truefitt Sounds great. But I am really waiting for the other other black box. . The power station.

: Christopher A Jordan It's upgradable once black box is complete, William Paul Truefitt. We have this technology and system that can lower the price of energy over the life (20 years with proper maintenance) span. Why not offer the system to our customers for beta testing while black box technology is pushed to 100%. More information available at

MidTech posts first Black Box Dominator video

The motor-generator portion is a bit more quiet than a window air conditioner. He says the unit outputs 2 kW, and that they hurried to get it done so customers in Pennsylvania who are still in a power outage after their recent storm could purchase it. (CBS News)

Apparently they have not yet figured out how to run the motor from the betteries [with the upgraded circuit], hence the unit is plugged into the wall. In the Facebook comments, he said: "Battery chargers pull a lot juice, whereas this system only uses 4 amps, which is more efficient." He also said: "I can take 4 amps to run an electric motor and spin the alternator to produce 25 amps. Battery chargers take alot more than that to operate."

In response to a question: "Could this supply off the grid electricity?" Doug writes: "Yes it can it comes with a solar panel and a turbine. The power cord is only there if you would like to put a quick charge on the batteries."

He says more videos are coming, maybe tomorrow.

If you would like to get this version of their system, which doesn't yet have the QMoGen self-looped, but has solar and wind, with plug-in-powered motor-generator for rapid charge.

"This is our black box dominator. It has several charging options wind solar and outlet. One of the fastest battery charging systems on the market. It comes with a 500 watt turbine and 250 watt solar." (YouTube February 7, 2014)
