This is a very significant development.

Geologists in Ohio have tied the state's recent uptick in earthquakes to the process of hydraulic fracturing. The natural gas and oil industries have been booming due to advances in the process also known as fracking, where rock formations are drilled and then fractured after a chemical mixture is injected under high pressure. Many areas where fracking is prevalent are experiencing higher numbers of earthquakes than what is typical, but no connection could be established until now. RT's Lindsay France has a look at the report that is sure to send tremors through the industry. (YouTube )
