Venturi Eclectic: Test Drive - Taking a spin in an electric vehicle that’s self-sustained through its solar-panel roof and plug-in wind turbine is pretty amazing. The Eclectic is very comfortable and manageable as an urban get-around car. It is breezy, fun and actually quite exhilarating to drive. Like all electric cars, it’s very quiet and superbly smooth on the road. (Popular Mechanics Oct. 3, 2007)

Venturi Eclectric Autonomous Electric Vehicle in Pre-Production - Presenting the world's first commercial solar-powered vehicle, Venturi is presently making 40 pre-production cars (cost expected to be Euro 24,000, scheduled to drop to Euro 15,000 in 2009, when they increase production). While Venturi should be applauded for building vehicles that integrate clean energy technology, it seems that they cater too much to appearances, and not enough to practicality. Where are the doors on the Eclectic? Only to be driven on sunny days, and not fast enough to kick up any dust? Not very safe. Definitely cute, but that's about the extent of it.
