Super Tech® is said to be the world's first in-tank catalyst (immersion device), that is lowered into the Hydro Carbon fuel tanks of vehicles, where it emits far infrared and electromagnetic waves. These waves affect the way that the fuel molecules interact with each other, allowing optimum combustion of the fuel.
They call it 'the Genius of the tank,' and offer "exact and guaranteed results".
Claims to reduce fuel consumption, while at the same time cutting emissions and therefore pollution. Company says savings of fuel and emissions are typically in the range of 6% to 12% and sometimes more. Cites extensive documentation of governments, institutions, truck fleets, bus fleets that have tested the device. Skeptic points out inadequacies in data.
Sample list of customers - actually is a list similar to the 'references' page, but not as detailed.

: "Super Tech works by temporarily breaking down the natural attraction fuel molecules have for each other. The device's unique composition allows the natural emission of far infra-red electromagnetic waves, which are emitted once the device is submerged in the fuel, and enhanced by the natural movement of the vehicle.
: "These waves temporarily modify the molecular interaction of the fuel which in turn allows a sustainable increase in the ability of oxygen to interact with the fuel at the point of combustion." (ref)
Described with a little more detail on the FAQ page:
: "6. Super Tech® consists of a non degradable metal cylinder, inside of which is a diode, surrounded by ceramic and metal rings of Samarium and Cobalt, which provide very strong and permanent magnetic forces. Packaged arround this, are numerous ceramic spheres. (ref)
: "4. Super Tech® works, by means of an association of a Diode, interspersed and surrounded by metal and ceramic rings, and magnetic elements, (Samarium and cobalt) all of which together (and without any electrical or mechanical connection to the vehicle) emit far infrared and electro magnetic waves. Hydro Carbon fuel has a natural tendency for (at a molecular level) the fuel to aggregate, preventing 100% combustion. Super Tech® overcomes this molecular adhesion principle, allowing better interaction of oxygen and therefore a fuller, more complete combustion of the fuel." (ref)
: "10. Fuel does not flow through the Super Tech® device. The device sits in the fuel, and it is the irradiation of far infrared rays and electro magnetic rays that affect the fuel in the tank." (ref)
: "11. As soon as Super Tech® is installed, it begins working. However, because the device causes a cleaning process to take place in the engine, 'initially higher emissions may be present', which are the breakdown of previously deposited hydro carbons prior to the Super Tech® being installed." (ref)
: "13. SuperTech works on all hydro carbon fuels (Gasoline and diesel)." (ref)
: "15. Super Tech® should be installed inside the fuel tank, and needs to be positioned in such a way that the device rests on the bottom of the tank, slightly elevated, and as close as possible to the point of the fuel exiting to the combustion chanber. Although Super Tech® is easy to install, installation should always be carried out by a suitably qualified person such as a mechanic or fleet technician." (ref)
: "16. Super Tech® is suspended in the fuel tank, with one end touching the bottom of the tank. Because it is secured by means of a wire, it can easily be removed, and transferred to an alternative vehicle, if the vehicle should be sold." (ref)
: "21. Super Tech® is manufactured in five sizes to suit various sizes of fuel tanks. You should choose the size unit immediately larger to the fuel capacity of your vehicle. In other words, if your tank is 500 litres, you would choose the 700 litre device. If the tank was 200 litres, you would choose the 350 litre device. If the tank was 100 litres, you would use the 150 litre device. Or 60 litres would use the 70 litre device. If your vehicle has twin tanks, then you need to install Super Tech® in the main tank (Tank where the fuel flows to the combustion chamber) and the size unit installed must be relevant to that tank (Main tank) only. (ref)
: "17. Super Tech® cannot damage your vehicle." (ref)
: "18. Super Tech® cannot damage your fuel tank. It is made of 100% non degradable materials." (ref)
: "19. There are no working parts in a Super Tech®, and therefore the device requires no servicing in its lifetime." (ref)
: "3. Super Tech® is manufactured in Canada, on Italian patent, and on behalf of the Head Office - Euro Fuel Saver - Italy." (ref)
: "9. Warranties are NOT affected by Super Tech®, as the device is not attached to any electrical or mechanical part of the engine, nor requires any modification to any part of the engine. In addition, Super Tech® does not add anything to the fuel, and therefore has no affect on the warranties." (ref)

Company claims that in the past nine years (as of Nov. 2005), Super Tech® has been tested by governments (Chile, Moldavia,Mexico, Romania) and institutions (University of Hong Kong, University of Cairo, University of Vilnius, TUV Institute of Germany, Mosavtoprogress of Russia), which have thoroughly tested SuperTech both on the bench and the road, and have all confirmed its huge benefits. Also claims that major transport companies have installed Super Tech® in their entire fleets, such as RAR, ARCESE, AMAT, PETROM, BARILLA, COCA COLA and many more.

Says savings of fuel and emissions are in the range of 6% to 12% and sometimes more.
: "Simply analysing fuel usage - even using fuel tables and sophisticated computer programs - does not give a true picture of the fuel consumption abilities of a vehicle. There are simply too many uncontrollable variables in every day use which affect the fuel used. Atmospheric conditions, the weather, the mechanical condition of the vehicle, driving style - even the driver's mood - all play their part in determining the vehicle's consumption.
: "Thus the answer to ascertaining the true fuel efficiency of the vehicle lies in analysing its emissions. Only in this way can any correlation be made and a true figure calculated (Law CE 116/93). Because emissions can be taken in a controlled environment, at regulated engine temperature, and revs, the uncontrolled variables on the open road are eliminated. Therefore, by monitoring emissions, the exact benefits of Super Tech can be visualised.
: "The reductions of emissions can then be used as a correlation of fuel reduction by means of the European Community Directive 116/93 , which equates that for every 10% of emissions reduced = 1.5% of fuel saved.
: "This European directive is the only legally recognised and scientific method to be used in assessing fuel consumption of vehicles, and is followed by EPA (USA) as well.

"All gasoline and diesel motor vehicle fuel additives are required to be registered in accordance with the regulations at 40CFR 79." Supertech is listed as an additive for gas or diesel.

Subject: Re: what do you think of [Supertech]?
I had a few email conversations with them in March this year.
The fundamental problem with this device is that, like many others, it claims to give big improvements by reducing the amount of fuel that escapes unburnt from the engine. Yet it is easy to prove (see for example http://www.fuelsaving.info/unburnt_fuel.htm ) that this unburnt fuel represents no more than 1 or 2% of the input fuel for a modern engine in good condition, and so I am immediately skeptical of the claims. You should also look at my pages on catalysts and magnets for my reasons for doubting the claimed operating principles.
They also have a lot of test data, the majority of which I have looked at:
- I am immediately doubtful of the various bus and truck tests, since (despite some care in the test methodology) it is always impossible to eliminate "confounding factors" such as weather, traffic, driving style, etc.
- Most of the institutions that have carried out bench tests are not ones that are well known in the automotive industry, and while they may be perfectly competent and honest, I do not have the same confidence as I would in data from a more prestigious organisation.
The one organisation on the list I do know and trust is the TUV. Their report is interesting - it shows some improvement on a constant-speed rolling road test, but with no A-B-A or repeat test to give statistical confidence. What is really interesting is that, in the "referbook" I was sent back in March, the TUV report contains another test - a proper drive-cycle rolling road test (as per http://www.fuelsaving.info/drive_cycle.htm ), which the legislative authorities regard as the "gold standard" for testing fuel "saving" devices. This section of the report has now been deleted (you will see the first page says "1 of 4", yet there are only two pages...), which is perhaps unsurprising as it showed significantly worse fuel economy with the device fitted! The Supertech people insisted that this type of test was somehow unsuited to their product, but I can't see why as it just involves starting an engine from cold and then driving about 4 miles at various speeds. I asked them several times to explain what it was about their product that meant it would work in the "real world" but somehow wouldn't work on this test, but they couldn't give me any meaningful explanation. If they have in the meantime found what the explanation is, I'd be very pleased to hear it.
So, like most of these devices, it boils down to this:
1) The theoretical evidence strongly suggests it does not work (or at least gives savings of no more than a percent or two).
2) The test data, while pointing in the right direction, is (in my view) insufficiently robust to overcome the theoretical objections.
3) The company is apparently unwilling to spend a relatively small amount of money on the tests that would prove the device works.

Thank you for your kind e-mail. We have read comments
of "Super Tech" Critic and must note that there are many
other products on the market which seem to be similar
(at least 20 in commerce throughout the world) but which
instead have great differences in functioning compare to
"Super Tech" which create evident inconvenience which
have however brightly been gone over by our "Genius of
the tank": all the other ionizers are devices having only
magnets often aligned by electric connections, they are
function along the connection circuit between the fuel tank
and combustion chamber: therefore they work on the fuel
Flow. On the contrary: Super Tech" work insight the fuel
Tank and ionize fuel before it gets into combustion chamber.
"Super Tech" have in its internal part a structure composed by
ceramic parts, permanent magnets and Nobel metals, including
PLATINUM. Platinum on its own have catalyzing effect on the
Fuel. The device generate an electromagnetic field (on far infrared
rays) which desegregates the hydrocarbons loosening the
Intermolecular attraction brought by the force of VAN DER WAALS.
Therefore, our critic is only right to the point: devices which work
on the fuel flow are able to safe 1 or 2% of the fuel.
"Super Tech" the world first device which is function insight the
fuel tank and as was proved have an ability to safe between 6
and 12%. Now we are about to receive a good reference from
England and Ukraine. Both from well known laboratories.
"Super Tech" is a new product for the United States Market.
In the near future we will test the device in this country and
Will proof effectiveness of the product.
In order to install device you do not have to make a hole in the
tank. On the big trucks or buses it should be inserted thru the
fueling entrance and it may take only 15/20 minuets.
on the passenger cars: European and have of the Japanese cars
and van's have an easy entrance from the trunk. Unfortunately,
if device installed on American cars, fuel tank have to be removed
in order to remove a fuel pomp as an entry for "Super Tech".
About our website placement, we have an idea to install
our web. on the "fuel economy" sight, along with Fuel Atomizer 2000
GEET and Herman's Insight. If we can do it please inform us on the
If you have experience with this product, feel free to post a report here, brief or exhaustive.
