Not enough tension and the turbo will be slow to spool, too much and the turbo will spike boost causing potential engine damage. DIY and how-to videos show these steps are helpful in maintaining and repairing cars.
Valeo - Smart Valve Actuation technology replaces the camshaft, operating each engine valve individually. By controlling residual gases, minimizing pumping losses and deactivating cylinders and valves, fuel consumption and pollutant emissions are reduced by 20%, while increasing low-end engine torque.
Rotating Liner Engine - Unique lubrication concept for traditional internal combustion engines incorporates a rotation liner between the piston and the engine block. The RLE improves efficiency, decreases pollutants, increases durability, and has applications in the heavy-duty diesel market. Fuel consumption savings are estimated to be 3.0-4.5% at full load (stationary engine applications), up to 9% under urban traffic driving conditions (Class 7 or 8 truck), and 27% at idle.
Frisco - Combines a surface texturing technique (vibro-grooving) and polymer lapping to improve fuel efficiency by dramatically reducing the coefficient of friction of engine parts.
Camcon - Binary Actuator valve design recycles energy using a combination of magnets and springs and will work for years off a small power source. It replaces the camshaft in petrol and diesel engines to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%, whilst increasing power output by 25%.
ALM Turbine - Developed an advanced trapped vortex combustor ("TVC"), which for most installed gas turbines can achieve ultra low emission levels with both natural gas and liquid fuel. By permitting ultra lean fuel mixtures, it improves overall turbine efficiency and reduces fuel consumption by a minimum of 2%.
Super diesel apparatus - By recycling exhaust gas, eliminating valve overlap timing, and using an electromagnetic flywheel, the super diesel engine increases fuel efficiency 75 - 85 percent. Inventor Daljit Singh claims a small car would get at least 100 miles per gallon with his engine.
OBED Open Biofuel Engine Development - Collaborative development of modifications and techniques necessary to achieve reliable engine operation running biofurls. OBED is designed to provide useful information for developers, users and those interested in running biofuels.
