Vancouver inventor charged up about electric car - Milner Motors developed the ElectriCar, a four-door, four-seat, plug-in hybrid car ready to hit the highway in about a year. Irvine-based Fisker will run its plug-in on Canadian batteries - The Irvine automaker said it would buy the batteries for its $87,900 luxury sedan, the Karma, from Advanced Lithium Power Inc., a Vancouver concern that also supplies batteries to the U.S. military. Mitsubishi Delivers EV Prototypes to Utilities - Mitsubishi Motors has delivered prototypes of its i MiEV research electric vehicle to two utilities in Japan, for data collection on driving performance and battery-charging capabilities. Mitsubishi Accelerates Electric Vehicle Work - Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled a new, single-motor research electric car based on its i minicar. The new Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle (i MiEV) will be used for joint research programs with Japanese power companies beginning this year, and in fleet tests in 2007. Hyundai Santa Fe Electric SUV Demonstration and Evaluation - The State of Hawaii conducted a two-year demonstration and evaluation of 15 Hyundai Santa Fe electric sport utility vehicles. The electric SUVs are manufactured by Hyundai Motor Company and have a 60 kW electric drive system, designed and developed by Enova Systems. These SUVs are powered by Panasonic nickel metal hydride batteries and utilize the rapid charging stations installed around the island of Oahu under the EV Ready State Project.

Nissan Unveils All-Electric LEAF - Nissan's all-electric LEAF, slated to launch in late 2010 in Japan, the US, and Europe, will have a 100-mile range, seat 5, have an advanced computer system with remote control by IPhone, and promises to be competitively priced. 10 Minute Charge for Student-Built Electric Car - Some MIT students are woking on an EV prototype called the elEVen that could be charged in just 10 minutes, but would require 350 kW of power, so special charging stations would also have to be built. Air board may trim electric car mandate - A California Air Quality staff report recommends that the board greatly reduce the required number of purely electric vehicles that automakers offer for sale and instead focus on more readily available and less expensive hybrids that would still cut pollution dramatically.
