Subject: [pes_acetone] Identify Brands on all Posts

I would like to make a suggestion. If everyone would post what

Brand of fuel, the octane and if they know if the fuel is oxygenated

or contains alcohol, this may aid in our research.

Personally, I will give what I have found over the past year.

The tops in performance and mileage for my area is SHELL.

No 'O' or alcohol for the top three here.

Followed by BP

Very close is Mobil/Exxon.

The use of any alcohol fuel such as Speedway, Swifty, Rich, Flying J

etc. has had a detrimental effect on economy, fuel filters, fuel

icing, carbonization.

Let me point out again something that most of you are already aware

of: just because one sees 1) a BP tanker 2) a swifty tanker 3) a

generic tanker 4) a tar truck 5) and a Haz Mat tanker leaving the

same refinery gate does NOT imply that all contain the same thing.

Granted....on occasion...sometimes more often, numbers 2,3,4 and

five contain various blends of the same thing.

I have repeatedly said on this thread that we need to identify

exactly which fuel that we are starting the test with. Some fuel

will perform flawlessly in all cars, some fuel will perform in some

cars and some fuel will only perform rarely in any car. Southern

states are easier to blend fuel because of the warmer temeratures.

Mountain fuel, even with a Major name sometimes runs better. Cold

climates are tricky, due to temperature variations. They used to

tell the public on commercials about 'vaporization', but not anymore.

Another thing, Sometimes a shyster "Major Brand" station operator

will call in the greasy gypsy tanker at night to 'supplement' his

tanks with unknowns.

I have found that high volume stations along interstate hiways are

not usually found to have a real high quality fuel. Is this the same

as 'watered down' beer near seaports??

Make sure that your station is offering only what is on his sign.

Some independents such Site or Atta Boy buy left over gas from

majors. It may be a blend of several good refinery runs and

sometimes is an exceptional fuel. But the problem is with


Other brands which I won't mention but will say that they

are 'generics' don't give a hoot about what the tanker brings to

their stations as long as it is cheap. Of course they get what they

pay for. And you do too.

Where am I going with all of this?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear! Stick with something

that has built in qualities during the refining process. OR your

tests will be useless. If you remain stubborn and insist that all

fuel is the same and all runs the same in your car....then you will

need to learn how to take that sows ear and thru chemistry create a

new animal first.



Look for the label

Exactly, this is what I found when using acetone. The issue appears to be ethanol in many gas pumps, so look for the label of 10% ethanol and avoid these brands or you will see only a slight increase in mileage, if any.

As one who has been testing additives and fuel catalysts for years, what derailed one of the best catalysts was the addition of an additive the oil companies slipped into fuel ten years ago called BTF. Now this has been banned in many states due to the identification it is a major cancer agent.

The only reason BIG OIL added this was to suppress a new breed of fuel catalysts. Now that this catalyst is again being re-inroduced, savings of up to 35% or more are now the norm. Although there is no acetone in this fuel catalyst, the principals are the same, to better break up the fule molecules to enable a more complete burn.

Again, ethanol should be avoided as it does deminsh results a bit, but you will still see over 20% savings, and with fuel prices at the current levels, this adds up to a significant savings at the pump. I am saving $15.00 per tank of fule using this new fuel catalyst, and my car runs smoother and with an increase in power you can feel immediately. Although I saw some benefits to acetone, they were not even close to, and even with the additional cost factored in, the savings are significant.
