WARP: Wind Amplified Rotor Platform speeds up the wind with a velocity amplification factor (VAF) in excess of 1.5 over free wind, resulting in a 450% increase in power. A WARP wind farm would need on average about 1/4 of the land per kilowatt of energy generated. Projected cost $.02 to $.04/kWh or lower.

Wouldn't it be better to use a vertical axis wind turbine here? As the wind turbines are paired (one standing and one hanging below), a pair of the vertical axis type could have a common axle, and a common generator which would be easily accessible inside the tower. (All those generators at propellers must really be hard and dangerous to access!) The funnelling effect of the tower will become really efficient when it can lead the wind to one side of a vertical axis wind turbine. Mirrored turbines should be used, so that all the wind-receiving areas are at the outer edge of the tower. The tower would now also get a cleaner shape. --OlavN 00:28, 31 March 2009 (PDT)
