Overview

The objective of this project is to produce a Hollywood-quality documentary movie that features free energy technology as a solution to the global warming crisis as well as to the energy supply crisis in general. The movie will cover the main energy alternatives, their plausibility, as well as some of the challenges that have been presented to hinder their emergence.

Mission Statement

Draft. Last revision: Oct. 23, 2006

Create a dynamic documentary to attract multitudes of supporters to the many viable options available now or in the near future for harnessing energy that is inexhaustible, ubiquitous, non-polluting, and affordable -- in place of using fossil fuels. The film will present an answer to the question that has been posed regarding what is to be done about our oil dependence and dangerous global warming trends. The movie will cover the main energy alternatives, their plausibility, and touch briefly on some of the challenges that have hindered their emergence.

Two Phases: 20-min and 1.5-hour Documentary

The project will have two phases:

  1. The first will be to produce a 20-minute video on a limited budget.
  2. The second will be to produce a 1.5-hour feature film for worldwide distribution to movie houses.

The 20-minute video can provide a sample for generating the funds and talent required to do the 1.5-hour documentary. The 20-minute video can also be used in the interim to promote free energy solutions.

New Energy Congress

The Top 100 Energy Technologies listing by the New Energy Congress (NEC) can be drawn upon as a primary reference in chosing which technologies to feature in the video segments and script. The NEC can also provide a general science advisory role to help increase accuracy in the narration scripting.

Proposal

Company Name and Mission

The New Energy Congress and the New Energy Movement are co-producing this documentary.

The New Energy Congress is an association for the purpose of reviewing the most promising claims to up-and-coming clean, renewable, affordable, reliable energy technologies, in order to come up with a weighted list of recommendations of the best technologies.

The New Energy Movement promotes the rapid widespread deployment of advanced, clean, and sustainable energy sources. The New Energy Movement's major priority is to educate the public, policymakers, and investors about the need to support research, developmen of these sources.

Working Title

New Energy Now
Clean, Affordable, Abundant Energy Solutions

See Title Selection - We have not yet settled on a title. We are open to suggestions.

Story

This is to be a documentary about the many energy technologies presently available or soon to be available, which are clean, affordable, and which provide viable alternatives to the fossil-fuel based energy infrastructure currently in use. Most of these technologies are proven and ready to go, and just need support to realize their full potential. The documentary will touch briefly on the need for such technologies, reviewing the environmental, social, and geopolitical paths of disaster if such solutions do not materialize because they don't get the support they deserve. More importantly, the documentary will paint a picture of an abundant future that could manifest if we do get our act together as a human family, using these tools that are available. These technologies exist; it is our combined destiny to put them to use, to replace the global scarcity mentality with an abundance mentality that is ecologically, socially, and geopolitically sustainable.

Characters

This documentary is more about technology than it is about characters, though there are certainly many interesting human elements in the inventors involved. The personalities are not the focus of this documentary, but they will come out to a certain extent in our coverage of their technologies.

In the 1.5-hour documentary, we might want to have the narrator as a central character that the audience relates to. The narrator can have a healthy blend of knowledge about the subject, skepticism, and hope.

Target Air Date

Target completion date for 20-minute video: Jan. 7, 2007. Target completion date for full-length film: June 30, 2007.

Trt (total running time)

Total running time
90 minutes for full-length documentary, and 20 minutes for quick-release teaser.

Most of the video footage is already taken and available, and just needs to be assembled. The main work will be to produce a cohesive narrative, and to tie the footage together well, doing some additional interviews to fill in some key places. The inventors and inventions are spread throughout the world, but in most cases already have footage taken that we can use.

Process Message (Goal)

Revolutionary energy sources are now available, and other, even more affordable and convenient sources are forthcoming. Any one of these many energy solutions have the potential to change completely our situation here on planet earth. The reasons for hope are many -- if we are wise enough to learn about them and act to use them to end our dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear power, reverse global warming and end poverty and war on this planet. Along with this hope are tasks that each person can do to help realize this vision, from providing financial support for research and development and deployment, to getting involved in political activism and educational outreach. There are also things that each individual, family, and organization can do now to reduce their personal energy footprint, which also helps them save money and even improve their quality of life.

Working Hypothesis

There is no valid justification for our present dependence on oil and other polluting fuels. Technology has not been lacking. Public and official will has been the missing ingredient. By pointing out clearly the feasible alternatives that exist now, as well as those soon to emerge, we can incite the audience to meaningful action to finally see these technologies implemented.

The subject is an interesting one, and will captivate the audience, even without the pressing social-need context, which makes it all the more compelling.

TAKE-AWAYS (Accomplished Process Message)

We want our audience to wake up to the truth that revolutionary energy sources are now available, and that other, even more affordable and convenient sources are forthcoming. Any one of these many energy solutions have the potential to change completely our situation here on planet earth. The reasons for hope are many -- if we are wise enough to learn about them and act to use them to end our dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear power, reverse global warming and end poverty and war on this planet.

We want our audience to get excited about these answers and begin to support them in a one of a myriad of ways possible, from financial support for research and development and deployment, to political activism and educational outreach. We also want our audience to be motivated to begin implementing the many methods presently available to reduce their personal energy footprint, which also helps them save money and even improve their quality of life.
