The Adams motor is an example of a claimed "over unity device" capable of producing more energy than is supplied to it.
It is clear that functional electric motors can be built by following his design principles, but claims of greater than 100% efficiency remain controversial. At a 1994 meeting, several such motors were demonstrated, but according to supporters "none of the motors present were of sufficient engineering quality to manifest the elusive over-unity effect."
In 1969, Robert George Adams (of New Zealand) developed what he currently calls the Adams Switched Reluctance Pulsed DC Permanent Magnet Motor Generator. (The terminology is idiosyncratic, because the design is not that of a traditional switched reluctance motor). Reluctance is the a measure of the opposition to magnetic flux, analogous to electric resistance. In the description of the motor's operation developed by Harold Aspden Ph.D, pulsing the stators electrically is said to switch the reluctance or opposition to the rotor magnets.
Working in collaboration with Harold Aspden, theories about the Aether and the motor's alleged interaction with this medium were developed. He has sought patents for his work (and has received a UK Patent, GB2282708, with Aspden Harold). Debates over the motor's power measurement still exist, with the thermal methodology originally employed open to question. Further claims made by Adams that Ohm's law is not valid for the apparatus, tend to further confuse output measurement.
Physically the basic Adams motor consists of a central rotor either all north out, or all south out. The stators are distinctive, for having a generator wind that fills them out from half the diameter of the magnet face, to the full diameter. Tim Harwood provided a simple to build version in 2001 that was widely replicated on the Internet, called the 'CD motor.' It features some of the exotic Adams optimisation variables advocated, such as high ohm coils. The apparatus is reported to manifest a cooling anomaly, to a certain extent corroborating at least some of the claims made by Robert Adams. Because Mr Adams remains secretive about the technical details of his research, to what extent the CD motor resembles present art is unclear.
Adams has claimed other inventors have plagiarised his work, and points out the technology has now lapsed into the public domain, making it non patentable. John Bedini and Lutec pty of Australia are especially notable for similar claims. Issues said to be hindering commercial development, include the apparent requirement for mechanical switching to deliver optimal output. The pulse anomaly also reportedly works best on a smaller scale of ¾ in (19 mm) diameter magnets, further hindering an effective scaling of net output.
This appears to have been an updated design Mr Adams worked on in the 1990s, and was the object of an attempted commercial venture:
It is also important to note here that although the Adams Thermomotor Generator is primarily designed for generation of power to heat water, it, with the advent of the capacitor bank, supplies wattless D.C. impulsed energy for the generation of further electrical power via the steam turbine generator. The machine is flanked on the one side by it's super power multi-farad capacitor bank, and on the other side by it's steam turbine generator which performs the role of a "rising" heat controller. Together with it's high torque A.C. and/or common D.C. power generation, it has now further massive power available to operate other Adams Thermomotor Generators ad infinitum. Thus the foregoing AdamsThermomotor Generator now evolves in what is to be known as the Adams Megawatt Generator.
.....Going back a little in history, my first experimental thermo-motor generator was invented and constructed in 1992. This was a small 5 watt machine (still in its original condition today). Various other models followed on until `1995 - 1996, when I ventured from 50 - 100 watt to 1 Kilowatt, and first saw the real signs of unity on the horizon. 1995/1996 heralded in a 7.5 kilowatt machine endowed with a unique rotor of unorthodox design features, which resulted in massive heat manifestation and which was described in papers written at that time and in my latest book, titled "Aether, Matter, Energy, Heat and the Universe".
This machine was followed by five more improved systems. This was due to the gaining of substantial empirical knowledge along the way, and of experiencing at first hand the awesome power that can be readily tapped provided, of course, the precautions were taken to control/tame this power.
Together with my calorimetric programme and the further empirical knowledge gained therein, I was then able to carry out very exacting tests within 1.75 - 2 minutes. It was during 1999 that I made some very important discoveries in relation to aetheric energy rotary machines. The most important of these discoveries was a Law of Nature which proved to me that to state "over 100% efficient" as being a claim of evidence of "unity" is a false notion. The achievement of 100% or 10,000% efficient is NOT indicative of "unity". The Adams Law of Unity (Infinity) states " a state of unity cannot exist without evidence of additive and accumulative energy generation" as stated elsewhere in my published papers of the time and my latest book.
The Adams Megawatt Generator, with it's appendage Multi Farad Megawatt Capacitor Bank, followed by the steam turbine controller/generator of the on-going rising temperature unique to the Adams Technologies, represents an awesome machine of massive power generation, and abilities of reducing machine mass of upwards of 90 ton. This machine can therefore be handled manually without the assistance of a crane or trucking. An average sized van could comfortably transport 12 - 15 of them.
It is to be understood that the Adams Megawatt Generator has passed the drawing board stage and is at present being constructed. Its components, for security reasons, are being produced at three different locations which are at considerable distance from each other, as well as being unknown to each other. The project is now nearing half way and in its entirety has been skillfully designed upon the invaluable empirical findings and discoveries over many years of research and development with laboratory prototypes.
