Once the Flynn Parallel Path motor is more widely replicated, the goal is to prepare an entry for the North American Solar Challenge (http://nasc2005.americansolarchallenge.org/).

Solar challenges

Multiple solar challenges now exist, from Australia to America. The rules state the vehicle must run off energy drawn directly from the sun. While significant progress has been made since these events started, motor technology remains a limiting factor.

Parallel Path advantage

Any Parallel path based entry is likely to have 2-3 times more torque than ANY OTHER entry, relative to the amount of energy collected from the solar panels. This has a number of important implications.

For example, a PP based entry could HALVE the number of solar panels, be smaller, lighter, cheaper, more aerodynamic than other entries, and still run faster, with better torque.

Collaboration

Today there are numerous university teams submitting entries to the various solar challenge races. Hopefully, one of them will read this web page, and express an interest in collaborating with someone who has replicated a Flynn PP motor. In this fashion, a PP entry could be made for nominal cost, as a community project.

Stock Class

There are two classes for the solar challenge. In stock class limits are placed upon the cost of the solar panels used. A PP motor would offer greatest benefit to a low budget stock class entry, where electrical motor input is more limited.
