OS:Steven E. Jones Solar Funnel for Cooking

From PESWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Prof. Steven E. Jones (of 9/11-demolition fame) presents a method for building a cooking device that is safe and low-cost, easy to make, yet very effective in capturing the sun's energy for cooking and for pasteurizing water. Requires cardboard, tin foil, black paint, and a mason jar.

Open Source Approved
On March 3, 2007, Prof. Jones agreed to allow this technology to be open sourced here at PESWiki. Feel free to help us develop this project, listing materials sources, design instructions and improvements, performance data, and other supporting material.
May Come in Very Handy Some Day
"While this technology might not be practical or feasible in the Western World where affluence abounds, it can make a huge difference in third world regions -- which may someday soon include the Western World if we don't get our act together. Memorize these plans. They may save your life some day." -- Sterling D. Allan, NEC (Mar. 3, 2007)

We have done numerous test runs with solar funnel cookers. Several data runs are plotted here: http://www.physics.byu.edu/research/energy/ See graphs towards the bottom of the page. Boiling occurs for approx 0.7 liters in 1.2 hours.

Inventor Profile: Steven E. Jones

http://profjones.com

Prof. Steven Jones, a Physicist, was involved in Cold Fusion research at Brigham Young University at the same time Pons and Fleischman were pursuing it at the rival school to the north, the University of Utah. He is still involved in Cold Fusion research, but his present preoccupation is in research ragarding what brought down the World Trade Center Towers, 1, 2 and 7. He has become world famous for producing documented evidence that the towers were felled by pre-positioned demolition charges.
