Radu Vacarescu has build a Sprain-like electromagnetic motor, using a spiral arrangement of magnets around a rotor, then using an electromagnet to get the rotor past the magnetic stick point. According to his measurements and calculations, he is getting four times more energy out than what is required to push the motor past the stick point. However, the accuracy of his measurements is questioned.

He offers this design as an open source project.

• My magnet motor ideea - This is my 3rd attempt in creating a magnet motor. There are some magnets glued to the coil and also to the core of the coil. I found that the sticky point could be avoided by giving a little pulse in the coil so the magnetic field from the magnets doesn't attract those on the disk for a very short period, 99% of the rotation is made only with magnets, energy input 0.01wh output 0.04wh (YouTube; March 13, 2008)

Without power into the coil at the sticky point the motor just bouces back a few times and then stops. I am using the coil so the magnetic field from the outer magnets is blocked. The pulse is extremly short, but sufficient to avoid the sticky point. This design could be improved by using bigger magnets and a flatter bifilar coil, so that the attraction force would be greater.

I've measured the output power by putting the shaft small motor in the hole of the top disk. The measured power was arround 0.04 watts. I know this is low but the COP is 4.

The input power is 17v and 1.6 Amps. The duration of the pulse in the osciloscope is only 0.0004 secs meanig 0.01 watts

The output was measured by inserting the shaft of a small motor into the top disk and measure the output - 0.04 watts

I know it is a small output.

I've already thought at improvements using halbach array and PPT which will increase the efficency.

I would like to make it an open project because this is the way research should be done.

### Measurement Noise

### Closed loop

A more convincing proof, as said before, would be a closed loop machine, quite easy to realize. What is he waiting for?
