An interesting comment was made on e-catworld website.

http://www.e-catworld.com/2011/10/nyteknik-publishes-detailed-report-of-the-october-6th-e-cat-test-in-bologna/#comments

Rossi DID NOT LOST THE CONTRACT WITH THE US COMPANY.

He decided not to sign until now, but there is a lot of margin of compromise BEFORE the start of the 1MW plant, and I think also afterward.

THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THIS: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, i.e. the American company, wanted that the shipping in the US of the 1MW plant would be sent under the name of Andrea Rossi AND NOT under the name of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Now, this could seem a minutia, instead it is NOT a minutia: according to US law, if you start a nuclear plant on the US soil without authorization the US govt can arrest you and put in jail forever and ever even if you live in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Hence Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers wanted Rossi to assume this risk and not them!!!

Of course Rossi said: "no".

MY OPINION: the contract will be signed, but due to legal implication the 1MW plant will not be inaugurated in the US, instead it will be inaugurated in Europe, probably in Italy.

Just wait 20 days since now: the plant will be inaugurated, and it will be clear to you that the plant is able to produce A LOT of energy

"While mainstream science if it takes far, in a mixture of caution and hostility, says the strange affair of the Energy Catalizer, the reactor cold fusion (more correctly should be talking about low energy nuclear reactions - LENR) invented by Andrew Rossi and based on studies of the physical Sergio Focardi. Let's talk about clean nuclear reaction (produces no waste) and can generate energy in virtually unlimited quantities from two very common all over the planet: nickel and hydrogen. Everything prevents this, of course, if the effective functioning of the will be shown."

Earlier today, we sent an email to Andrea Rossi, that contained a number of questions, about the test that was performed yesterday on October 6, 2011. He has promptly responded with answers, although he states some issues are confidential. I would like to thank him for taking the time to answer our questions.

- -

DEAR ALL,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUOUS ATTENTION. PLEASE FIND THE ANSWERS IN BLOCK LETTERS ALONG YOUR TEXT:

Dear Andrea Rossi,

In regards to the latest test of the Energy Catalyzer, I have a number of questions I hope you can answer.

1) My understanding is that if a reactor core is not adjusted to be under-powered (below its maximum potential) in self-sustain mode, it can have a tendency to become unstable and climb in output. If the reactor is left in an unstable self-sustaining mode for too long, the output can climb to potentially dangerous levels. Can you provide some information about how the reactor core in the test was adjusted to self-sustain in a safe manner?

NO, VERY SORRY

a) For example, there was only one active reactor core in the module tested. How was the single reactor core adjusted to be under-powered?

CONFIDENTIAL INFO

b) Is adjusting the reactor core as simple as lowering the hydrogen pressure?

2) What is the power consumption of the device that "produces frequencies" that was mentioned in the NyTeknik article? Although the power consumption of this device is probably insignificant, providing a figure could help put to rest the idea (that some are suggesting) that a large amount of power was being consumed by the frequency-generating device, and transmitted into the reactor.

THE ENERGY CONSUMED FROM THE FREQUENCY GENERATOR IS 50 WH/H AND IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED, BECAUSE THIS APPARATUS WAS PLUGGED IN THE SAME LINE WHERE THE ENERGY-CONSUME MEASUREMENT HAS BEEN DONE

a) Can you tell us anything more about this frequency generating device and its function?

NO, SORRY, THIS IS A CONFIDENTIAL ISSUE

b) Is the frequency-generating device turned on at all times when a module is in operation, or only when a module is in self-sustain mode?

CONFIDENTIAL ISSUE

c) Some are suggesting that this device is "the" catalyst that drives the reactions in the reactor core. However, you have stated in the past that the catalyst is actually one or more physical elements (in addition to nickel and hydrogen) that are placed in the reactor core. Can you confirm that physical catalysts are used in the reactor?

YES, I CONFIRM THIS

3) Does the reaction have to be quenched with additional water flow though the reactor, or is reducing the hydrogen pressure enough to end the reactions on its own?

NEEDS ADDITIONAL QUENCHING

a) If reducing the hydrogen pressure (or venting it completely) is not enough to turn off the module, could it be due to the fact some hydrogen atoms are still bonded to nickel atoms, and undergoing nuclear reactions?

YES

b) If there is some other reason why reducing hydrogen pressure is not enough to quickly turn off the module, could you please specify?

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, and for allowing a test to be performed that clearly shows anomalous and excess energy being produced. Hopefully, the world will notice the significance of this test.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, AND, SINCE I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOT TIME TO ANSWER (I MADE AN EXCEPTION FOR YOU) PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT BEFORE THE SELF SUSTAINING MODE THE REACTOR WAS ALREADY PRODUCING ENERGY MORE THAN IT CONSUMED, SO THAT THE ENERGY CONSUMED IS NOT LOST, BUT TURNED INTO ENERGY ITSELF, THEREFORE IS NOT PASSIVE. ANOTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE REPORT, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE SPOTS OF DRIVE WITH THE RESISTANCE HAVE A DURATION OF ABOUT 10 MINUTES, WHILE THE DURATION OF THE SELF SUSTAINING MODES IS PROGRESSIVELY LONGER, UNTIL IT ARRIVES TO BE UP TO HOURS. BESIDES, WE PRODUCED AT LEAST 4.3 kWh/h FOR ABOUT 6 HOURS AND CONSUMED AN AVERAGE OF 1.3 kWh/h FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS, SO THAT WE MADE IN TOTAL DURING THE TEST 25.8 kWh AND CONSUMED IN TOTAL DURING THE TEST 3.9 kWh. iN THE WORST POSSIBLE SCENARIO, WHICH MEANS NOT CONSIDERING THAT THE CONSUME IS MAINLY MADE DURING THE HEATING OF THE REACTOR DURING THE FIRST 2 HOURS, WE CAN CONSIDER THAT THE WORST POSSIBLE RATIO IS 25.8 : 3.9 AND THIS IS THE COP 6 WHICH WE ALWAYS SAID. OF COURSE, THE COP IS BETTER, BECAUSE, OBVIOUSLY, THE REACTOR, ONCE IN TEMPERATURE, NEEDS NOT TO BE HEATED AGAIN FROM ROOM TEMPERATURE TO OPERATIONAL TEMPERATURE.

WARMEST REGARDS TO ALL, ANDREA ROSSI

Here is the graph (from NyTeknik's report with explanations added by me) showing the heat production of the E-Cat in self sustain mode, after the input power has been cut off (except for the device that produced "frequencies.")

Image:111006_E-Cat_cool-down_data_rd.gif

What this graph shows, is clear evidence that anomalous energy is being produced. If anomalous energy was not being produced, the red line should continue dropping after the input power has been cut off. However, it does not. The line stays flat for hours, until the hydrogen pressure is lowered, and additional water is used to quench the reactor.

Some may argue that the reason the line stayed flat, is due to the fact a large amount of input power was applied to the system over an extended period of time, before self sustain mode began. They think the system stored the heat, and the heat is responsible for all the energy production in self sustain mode. However, I do not think that is possible. If that was the case, the red line would have been dropping continually, but it did not.

There are many issues with this test that could effect how *much* excess energy was produced, but I think the results clearly show anomalous energy -- beyond a shadow of a doubt.

On the business end of things, there is some bad news today. In addition to Rossi ending his relationship with Defkalion Green Technologies Inc. (which he claims has never built or tested a working reactor, because he never gave them the proprietary information to build one), he has now ended the relationship with his newest partner in the USA.

Here is what he had to say in the NyTeknik article.

http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/energi_miljo/energi/article3284823.ece

The Thursday test took place on the same premises as the previous tests. The container housing the one megawatt heat plant that Ny Teknik provided pictures of a few weeks ago – and which, according to Rossi, should have been shipped to a U.S. customer a few days after we saw it – was still on site.
“We had a preliminary agreement with a very important party in the U.S., but when we received the final draft, it included conditions that our lawyers said that we should not accept”, Rossi told Ny Teknik.
Shipment of the plant was then blocked; according to Rossi, however, the launch will still take place in October as earlier promised, though he could not yet disclose where this will take place.
Rossi said that no more tests are planned at the moment.
“Within a few months the product will be on the market, and the best test is done by the customers who will come back with the product if it doesn’t work”, he told Ny Teknik.

- -

This is bad news, because he recently had to sell his house to raise the funds to complete the one megawatt plant. Upon the launch of the one megawatt plant he would have obtained a check from his new partner. Some of that money would be used to pay the $500,000 for the research and development program at the University of Bologna, which has not yet started. The deadline for him to pay the money is Jan 1st, 2012.

Lets hope he finds a new partner soon!

Here's some preliminary coverage:

A company named Brillouin Energy claims to promote fusion reactions with electromagnetic stimulation.

Perhaps Rossi is doing something similar, but also has catalysts in the form of elements in his reactor core.

It will be fantastic when we get the full explanation of how the Rossi device works!

http://www.brillouinenergy.com/

Brillouin-Reactor-Simple-Block-Diaggram-450x301.jpg

"In the simple explanation the Brillouin technique uses an electromagnetic pulse slamming into hydrogen or H1. The pulse pushes some of the hydrogen into dihydrogen or H2 and on to H3 and H4. Finally some hydrogen molecules reach the stage of helium. The method generates heat – more heat energy than electrical energy used to run the pulse."

I just reviewed the detailed data provided by NyTeknik.

http://www.nyteknik.se/incoming/article3284962.ece/BINARY/Test+of+E-cat+October+6+%28pdf%29

The good news, is that it seems the test was a success. The device continued to self sustain for hours, with almost no drop in temperature, and possibly even a slight increase in temperature! Also, it seems the E-Cat was losing a LOT of heat to the environment, before the output of the E-Cat even made it to the heat exchanger, to heat the secondary circuit. I think this is obvious for a couple reasons. First, the surface of the device itself was very hot (between 60 and 85 C). Secondly, it's probable that a good bit of heat was lost as the steam traveled between the output of the E-Cat, and the input to the heat exchanger. Because of this, whatever the output was measured to be, the output was really larger.

It seems like the device clearly showed excess energy. However, there are a few issues that need to be addressed. First of all, this comment from the report by NyTeknik.

"Power to the resistance was set to zero. A device “producing frequencies” was switched on. Overall current 432 mA. Voltage 230 V. Current through resistance was zero, voltage also zero. From this moment the E-cat ran in self sustained mode."

What the heck is this device that, "produces frequencies."

If there is a device transmitting frequencies to the E-Cat, it means that there is additional input power being consumed. We need to know how much input power did this device consumed! If it was significant, we cannot really say the device truly self sustained! It may have self sustained in a way, in that the reactors were not heated. But if power was being transmitted in any form (even wirelessly) that is a transfer of energy!

Also, what is the function of this black box? Does it stimulate the energy production in the E-Cat? We have never been told about this box before! We were told that an E-Cat could be powered purely by heat from a Bunsen burner. Why is a box like this producing "frequencies" needed at all?

We need to learn more about this device. Could this device be what Raymond Zreick called the box with the "secret ingredient" yesterday?

"We'll be able to take pictures of all the components BUT the SMALL black box with the so called secret ingredient."

We have been told the E-Cat produces excess power due to a catalyst, that is composed of one or more elements. These elements are said to be in addition to the elements hydrogen and nickel, are cheap, and are plentiful. Does the device need stimulation by the device "producing frequencies" in addition to the catalysts? To be blunt, we need more information about this device.

-- What did it look like?

-- Where was it positioned in relation to the E-Cat?

-- How did the frequencies enter the E-Cat?

-- Were these frequencies sound waves, pressure waves, electric waves, magnetic waves, etc?

-- Most importantly, how much power did the device that produced the frequencies consume?

Overall, it seems this was a very positive test. I think it proves the E-Cat produces excess energy. However, more questions have emerged that need answers.

Here is the link to the story and video by NyTeknik.

http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/energi_miljo/energi/article3284823.ece

A few interesting points.

- The reactor is now flat instead of round, with three reactor chambers. Only one was active for this test. The fact the device was already throttled down to one third power (probably by reducing hydrogen pressure) could explain why the output was lower than in previous tests.

- The had the input running for over four hours (at 2.7 kilowatts) before letting the device self sustain with no input. This is not a good thing in my opinion, when it comes to proving the reality of the device to skeptics. Of course extra energy was probably produced during this time period -- we need the graph of input verses output to be sure -- it will give fuel for the skeptics that say thermal inertia is powering the device during self sustain mode. Of course thermal inertia cannot explain hours of self sustained operation, especially when the device is composed of materials with very low specific heats.

- The output does not seem very high (but of course only one reactor was used at one third power), but the fact a heat exchanger was used could explain this. The heat exchanger would lower the efficiency of the system. As heat transfers from the primary circuit through the heat exchanger to the secondary circuit, some heat will be lost.

Before any final conclusions can be made, the data needs to be looked at. I am looking at it now.

Article from Il Sole 24 Ore (in Italian)

http://www.radio24.ilsole24ore.com/main.php?articolo=ecat-fusione-fedda-bologna-andrea-rossi

written by scientific journalist Maurizio Melis who was present at the event.

SUMMARY OF THE ARTICLE OF MAURIZIO MELIS:

1) Melis tells us that Swedish and American representatives of the industrial world were present, but they refused to reveal which corporations they work for

2) Melis tells us that representatives from the Univiersities of Uppsala and Bologna were present. The University of Bologna ordered its representatives not to talk with the press

3) Melis states that this time, although margins of error were still present, the measurements were more solid compared to the the ones taken during the previous tests thanks of the new setting for the experiment

4) In particular, the uncertainties concerning the measurement of the produced energy were eliminated (before there was the problem of the quality of the steam. This problem was completely eliminated by using a secondary circuit)

5) however, critical points remain, because the test was not performed in neutral field. Melis hopes that soon university tests will be performed in order to eliminate the problem
