Root redirects format

Different from Wikipedia, we have several departments at PESWiki. Directory:, PowerPedia:, Academy:, Article:, Translation:, Site:, Events:, News:, etc. (Actually Wikipedia accomplishes a similar purpose by partitioning these into different websites.) It is therefore conceivable that a given topic can be found well-developed in more than one place at PESWiki. Therefore, rather than have a keyword in the root redirect to just one of its sub-locations, lets have the keyword location become an index to all major sub-locations.

For example, presently Tesla redirects to PowerPedia:Nikola Tesla. However, there are several other key Tesla-related primary pages on the site, including a category.

So from now on, let's not redirect the keywords unless there is only one primary page to send the user to. Instead, let's list all the primary resources in a brief index, with a brief heading. For example, on the Tesla page, the heading would read: "Major Resources about Tesla at PESWiki. I've created a template to do this automatically. Just insert {{Keyword Index}} at the beginning of the page, and the page name will automatically be inserted in that header.

Let's add a section to the "to mediawiki conversant users" page to this effect.

Yep ... the Tesla redirect (or any major keyword) needs to be index to all major sub-locations (eg., a "disambiguate (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=define%3Adisambiguate&btnG=Search)" page) to the Directory:, PowerPedia:, Academy:, Article:, Translation:, Site:, Events:, News:. I'll look at the template:Keyword Index. Reddi 15:28, 11 Aug 2006 (EDT)

In most cases there will be just a Directory: and PowerPedia: page, and no more. So perhaps the auto function you have built could be limited to just those two, not all the other departments. Additional pages can be linked manually in the "see also" section, if pertinent. Most "OS" pages, for example, (which is a probable third major link), will not be named in the same way that the Directory: and PowerPedia: pages are named.

I limited to just the below, as I think these could be expanded in the majority of the cases.

PowerPedia: Directory: News:

Library: Academy: Store:

If anyone has an objection to them remove. BUT, I think that having a few red link will encourage someone to log in and edit it. Reddi 12:40, 12 Aug 2006 (EDT)

Okay by me. I like your reasoning. SilverThunder 14:42, 12 Aug 2006 (EDT)
