Marcus' Replication of John Bedini's Simplified 'School Girl' Motor and Battery Energizer

Index of Experiments

  • Experiment #3.5 SELFRUN experiment SINGLE Battery - Output was connected straight back to input-Battery. This resulted in a negative-current (charging) reading on the input-amp-meter. If meter was reversed, it measured a little (100 - 200mA) current which charged the SINGLE Battery althought the wheel was running from this exact one Battery, too. The device ran almost an FULL HOUR and charged the Batteries. Photos and Videos taken.
  • Experiment #2 Fluxcoil-Test #1 - wound new, special coil and tested that with the standart-SG-circuit. 1 driving Battery charges 3 Batterys of the same type. End Result after Batteries had time to settle down: 175% (EDIT: after some discussions, this seems to be a milk-maiden calculation. It doesn't take into account that at lower voltage a Battery will recharge at a faster rate and then tops off as it reachs the full level. Same goes into other direction: The driving-Battery will discharge slowly at first but then begins to fall rapidly. So NO over-unity yet? I think so now, too... But I will not give up.)

Nice bid on eBay: Got big (32kg heavy, 1950's-aged?) Philips GM-5560 Osciloscope for only €50,-. It still works: scope.jpg

My freshly arrived MINIATURE-Lead-Acid-Gel-Batterys. I'm very excited to start experimenting with them: mini12v.jpg

And that happens when you dont fix your coil in proper place and one Magnet hits it. For my luck it wasn't even at one quarter of it's final speed, when it crashed into the coil. So be careful and always wear safty-gogles: crash.jpg

Here you can see, that input-current drops (and rotor still accelerates) as the SG gets loaded. Exactly opposite to normal Generator which would slow down due to load: load.gif

Right LED = Coil on, left LED = Coil off/discharge and the the point where "BackEMF"/"Radiant Spike" occurs. Note, that the coil is in ATTRACTION-mode to the Magnets on the Wheels. When it's on, the rotor should normaly become deccelerated by it. Yet it is the only way, that the circuit respective the Bedini-SG move at all! (When you reverse the wires of the coil, you must reverse to get proper timing back and wheel running. But does this makes a difference in Charging? I cannot measure any difference, neighter in in input nor output - current.. bd.gif

how to "kickstart" the solid-state mode with standard-circuit 
(as I found that without opamp it's difficult to get): JUST PULL THE BASE RESISTOR HIGH AT SUPPLY VOLTAGE FOR A SHORT MOMENT. (Put an wire across (+) and the output of your coil that goes to the basresistor). That helped me to get solid state at the push of a button.

Replication Particulars

Batteries 
1x 12V 17Ah, 1x 12V 12aH, 4x 12V 1.3aH
Coil 
2x 450 Turns Bifilar with 0.8mm (AWG#20) enamelled copperwire. The core is out of soft-steel-nails. click here to see it, or click here to see an other coil which I made, which has enamelled iron-gardenwire as core.
Circuit 
Exactly as in the schematic, also tried different Transistors and Mosfets and Base-Resistors. Experimented with variable resistors as base-resitor, too.
Magnets 
The Magnets are Neodymium ones and are round, 1cm dia and 0,5cm thick. They are N48-grade.

Analogous Transistor

Anyone looking to replicate Marcus's circuit variation, his transistor (European) is not readily available, but NTE cross references NTE2339 for the C5353. It is a high breakdown voltage transistor that can handle about 10X the Collector-Emitter voltage than the one we are using (2N3055).
