The 3.8L motor in the Bonneville seems for me to be already extrmemly effective in producing good mileage. I have a 2000 SLE and drive from Miami Fl to North Florida, Georgia and sometime to New York. This car with, the AC on, gets me about 31 mpg at a cruise speed of 80mph, using cruise control on roads with posted 70 mph speed limits. The trip from South Dade near Homestead to Valdosta Georgia (460 miles) is done with 16 gallons of fuel, the tank is over 18 gallons. The on board computer says this car gets 40 mpg at 50 mph. In the City (Miami is Terrible with congrestion all day) I have a steady 22.5 mpg. I get 325 to 390 mile per 15-16 gallons. For a full size car I think it is great. I am also getting these fuel rates with the trunk and backseat full of heavy samples of what I sell, it is usually about 350 to 450 lbs. of weight. When going to New York it maybe as little as 150 lbs.
What will acetone do for this car? Will I get 28 mpg instead of 31, or will I get 40 at 80 mph?. Does anyone know?
