Building on Wikipedia's Foundation
From PESWiki
How PESWiki can Build on the Great Work at Wikipedia
We at PESWiki envision eventually migrating all major Wikipedia energy-related pages over to PESWiki where we can push the envelope further than is generally allowed at Wikipedia.
History
Perhaps you don't know the history of PESWiki. Before PESWiki came to be, we wanted to actually build a free energy section over at Wikipedia, but we were overwhelmingly rejected there. They only want to touch codified, accredited, mainstream stuff. No fringe, cutting-edge, non-university-recognized stuff allowed. The Wikipedia license allows all their content to be copied anywhere, as long as the "copyleft" notice accompanies such content. We have the same GNU Free Documentation License terms at PESWiki, so we're covered. We are using the same open source software: MediaWiki.
The plan
So here is the plan. We can go in and copy an entire Wikipedia page over to PESWiki and then begin to modify it with the additional information and clarifications of which we are aware. It would be appropriate to link back to Wikipedia for credit, under the "see also" or "reference" section. Thus we can build on the great work they have done, and take it to the next level.
