  • Recycling / Waste to Energy > Junk Computers Could Fuel Cars (http://www.livescience.com/environment/080514-computer-waste.html) - Scientists in Romania and Turkey employ a special combination of catalysts, high temperatures and chemical filtration to destroy flame-retardant additives, so these electronic scrap materials can be safely recycled, resulting in oils that could be safely used as fuel and also recycling rare metals.   • Liquid Metals / Solar > A Cool Trick for Solar Cells (http://www.technologyreview.com/Energy/20782/?nlid=1079) - IBM researchers have shown that it is possible to increase the concentration of light on photovoltaic cells by about ten times without causing them to melt by using an ultrathin layer of liquid metal, a compound of gallium and indium, between two surfaces.
