Instructions for uploading images

If you have image reduction software and know how to use it (usually built in to image programs), please reduce the file size so it is not bloated.

#You need to be logged in.

#Click on the "There was an error working with the wiki: Code[8]" link under "toolbox" in the lower left hand column.

#Use the browse button to select your file from your hard drive.

#It is best if your file name is adequately unique so that there is not a likelihood that someone else will use the same name and accidentally overwrite your image.

#[optional] Enter a brief description of the image, including things like: image source, permissions (if it is a thumbnail [95x95 pixels preferred], you can say, "thumbnail images are allowed by copyright law"), primary page of relevance at PESWiki.

#Click the upload button.

#If you encounter a name conflict message, change the name of your file and try again.

#Copy the name of the file from your browser (everything after http://peswiki.com/index.php/)

#e.g. Image:MYLOW-magnet-motor_anim_95x95.gif

#Go to the page where you wish to insert the image.

#Place the name or path of the file between brackets where you wish it to insert the image on the page: There was an error working with the wiki: Code[1]).

#Now preview and save down that page, and you're done.

Include Description

When I upload images, I try to include the bullet format I'm preparing anyway. That way there is a memo about the relevant directory, and the news source of the image. I'm pulling the bullet together anyway, so I might as well post the info in the "description" box when I upload the image that goes along with it. That way, when people click on the image, they are not just taken to a page showing the image only, but they also see the bullet that goes along with it. -- SilverThunder 18:37, 10 Feb 2008 (EST)
