Pendulums are arranged in such a way that in the static equilibrium, small pendulum takes the vertical position, while the big pendulum is in a horizontal position and rests on the pad. Hi Brian,
I read about your rig on Peswiki and was impressed. I have built a Milkovic two stage, like his water pump, with mixed results. I tried to fold back some of the mechanical energy to maintain the primary pendulum but couldn't get the right timing. I'm sure it can be done but I'm more inclined to an electrical solution like yours. I was just setting it up yesterday to use a Bedini monopole coil and a few magnets for my primary propulsion. The secondary can power a ratcheted wheel, such as the rear wheel of a bike, that is studded with magnets around it's perimeter. That would convert the high torque to speed. This project has been on the back burner for a while but you have given me some new ideas, thanks.
