Methods of using microwave frequencies to extract oil and gas in seconds from shale, coal, and tar sands. The microwaves are tuned to an optimum frequency to separate the component parts which can be burned or condensed into liquid fuel, using only a small portion of the energy produced. The microwave frequences cause molecular excitation of polar molecules intrinsic to hydrocarbons and other carbon materials. The process can also be used for extracting heavy oil from capped-off oil wells.
Directory:Global Resource Corp:High-Frequency Attenuating Wave Kinetics or HAWK - Frank Pringle of Global Resource Corp (GRC) has invented and refined an efficient microwave energy process to turn plastics, discarded tires, and other carbon-based substances such as shale, coal, and tar sands into gas and oil.
Raytheon Sells Oil Shale Extraction Technology to Schlumberger - Defence contractor Raytheon has sold their microwave based shale oil extraction technology to Schlumberger for an undisclosed price. From a peak oil perspective, this would be good. From a global warming perspective, it would be awful. (Peak Energy January 29, 2008)
