(As of Nov. 2009), A South African experimenter has modified an electrolysis circuit developed by Bob Boyce so that now it recharges his daughter's electric vehicle riding toy. What makes this remarkable is that the energy is not drawn from the wall but from the environment somehow. He's done this around 35 times now and knows of three replications of the effect by others.

Feel free to post more info. This is a publicly editable site.

Status: (As of Apr. 2010) We are still waiting for Bob to file his provisional patent on this technology so he can give the green light for those with the know-how to share it with the replications group.

CAUTION : There are dangers involved in this research and development.

Boyce on Hex Controller

Bob Boyce Interview by Chris Patton (Uncut version) - Bob talks about the Hex Controller starting at 1 hour, 12 minutes, 45 seconds.

Components

Hex Controller

Built by Bob Boyce, obtained by Watkykjy1 for $1200

Charles Couch writes:

There is also a "3G Bob Boyce Circuit Board" here http://stores.homestead.com/hydrogengarage/-strse-PWM-cln-PWM3G/Categories.bok

but it is based on the 555 timers not on the Atmeg48 like the Wakykyjy1 device.

Coil

Built by Watkykjy1 per Boyce instructions.

Image:Watkykjy1 coil 500.jpg

Charles Couch writes:

Parts for the Toroidal Core Coil are here: http://stores.homestead.com/hydrogengarage/-strse-91/Toroid-Coil-for-the/Detail.bok

$190 for the coil parts.

Battery

Here's the one used by Watkykjy1 on his daughter's toy EV. Probably 6V.

Image:Watkykjy1 batteryl 300.jpg
Computer Interface

This is a collage of images from Watkykjy1's software interface for programming the controller. He describes how he does this in his 3rd of 4 video presentation.

Image:Watkykjy1 software interface 500.jpg

Charles Couch writes:

Though the programming environment and program of Wakykyjy1 may be expensive and hard to come by, the Arduino System using the same Atmeg series chip is easy and readily available with lots of web assistance to get it together. I have an Atmeg128 running a very similar program right now on my computer desk. It cost $5 for the chip. The programming environment is free. You just download the Java Run Time Environment for free and the Arduino stuff from that site. The cable to program the Atmeg via the USB port is $20-$25. You need a breadboard $5 or less. You can even solder the parts directly to the chip and skip the breadboard if you want. You only need one resistor and one capacitor to have a running microcontroller.

I'm pretty sure this is a very simple program to write. The hard part is the power transistor Toroid Coil interface. But Wakykyjy1 gives the parts numbers for this in the comments under the 4th video on Youtube. ["This circuit uses the IRF540z mosfets with UCC27322P mosfet drivers."]

Oscilloscope

Required equipment for this research.

I had a nice chat to a friend this morning, and he managed to get his hex controller charging tremendously! it does a much better job than mine at the moment, so I will have to change my code and see if I can get the same results. Goes to show that with some time and effort, this thing works like a charm.

I wish there was a way to release this circuit without the dangers that goes with it. Maybe Bob knows of a way we can make it safer or something and then send out a PCB...

Hi Guys,

This was my work, and yes, it's based on Bob Boyce's toroid and it wasn't [the] only effect I got, as I was using [it] for about a year to charge the batter of my little girl's toy car and when she finished riding it during the day, I would connect it up again at night to charge, so the effect of volts times amps was confirmed time and again.

Unfortunately, I cannot and will not say anything more on the subject due to previous suppression threats, do don't expect any more from me on this. But if you take the time to REALLY study what Bob is doing in his toroid, etc., then you will see that it can indeed go >100% efficiency, and that it's really worthwhile in terms of renewable energy.

Peace friends!

FYI

Where to Start?

Q. Can anyone give me info or point me to links that will show me the beginings of this technology and progression, so I can brush up and give myself a better understanding?

A. Photomaniks writes: You should study Tesla magnifying transmitter and his radiant energy receiver. Then study everything that can be found here Directory:Bob Boyce Hex Controller. Some info on the toroid and PWM3 boards can be found in D9.pdf document which is in file section of another Yahoo group: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/WorkingWatercar/

This document is essentially about hydrolysis which works under the similar principles as battery charging. Some additional info can be found here http://www.waterfuelforall.com/forum/index.php?topic=423.0

Q. Can someone provide the most critical detail missing in this? In the 4 videos presented, there is no explicit description of the charging pulses used, specifically: maximum instantaneous pulse height (voltage), pulse width and pulse repetition rate. My guess, from watching the videos is that the height is maybe 13 - 15v. The pulse width corresponds to about 3 - 4mhz and you get one pulse per 50us. Any precise info here?

Oh, and one more critical thing: the above is my guess based on his scope probe placement - which is not what the battery 'sees'. We need to get that probe on the plus terminal of the battery. Thanks!
