'Travis Cole's Report of Directory:Acetone as a Fuel Additive Effect on Mileage and Performance'

Reports

We drive a 2002 Ford Windstar. I recently added a K@N "Filter Charger" air filter that has improved my interstate driving from 23 m.p.g. (best ever) to 25 m.p.g. on a regular basis. I drive aprox. 400 miles a week and am certain of this figure. Local driving has been improved by 2 m.p.g. as well. This is up 2 m.p.g. overall from what the factory sticker on the lot read ( 23 m.p.g. as the best )on our van. I recently tried adding acetone to my fuel on a trip to Northern Ohio. The trip was 423 miles. I averaged 27.4 m.p.g. going ( very flat in Ohio compared to Kentucky. Always get unusually high gas miliage going there and the air filter played a part as well). On the return trip I added 2 oz. of acetone per 10 gallons of gas. I immediately felt a slugish responce upon entering the interstate. Sure enough gas miliage was diminished by about 3 1/2 m.p.g. on the return trip. Tonight ( 9-09-05 ) I tried the acetone in a 3 oz. to 10 gallons of gas combination. This was a very short trip to the local gas station where I fueled up the last time as well. I reset my average m.p.g. sensor at the entrance to our subdivision. Maintaining the speed limit on curvey, hilly, Kentucky local roads, I made my way about 8 miles to the gas station. Below is my summary. Very good results.

Summary

2002 Ford Windstar.

3 oz/10 gal (acetone / gasoline)

8 mile trip to filling station: 21.2 m.p.g. BEFORE ADDING ACETONE

8 mile trip returning from filling station to start: 23.2 m.p.g. AFTER ADDING ACETONE

I MADE THE TRIP AGAIN TO BE SURE:

8 mile trip to filling station: 24.9 m.p.g. AFTER ADDING ACETONE

8 mile trip returning from filling station to start: 23.5 m.p.g. AFTER ADDING ACETONE

32 TOTAL MILES TESTED

noticeable power gains (power, idle).

Starting outdoor temperature at fill up was 69 degrees. At close of test, outdoor temperature was 67 degrees ( after the 4 trips ).

Total Gain: 3.7 m.p.g. or about 17.5% improved gas miliage. Knowing this vehicle, I think the figure will improve with Interstate miliage.

== I know this is a very limited test but for those of you who drive alot you will apreciate what I am about to say. You know the throttle responce of your vehicle when you drive alot. It becomes a sixth sense after a while. I felt an immediate difference ( more power ) for the same amount of pressing on the gas peddle, after adding the acetone at 3 oz. per 10 gallon ratio. Just as I felt an immediate slugishness at 2oz. per gallon. I know it is working and hope to post more results from a longer test.
