Alla Weinstein and I are founding a new renewable energy company called Principle Power. The ultimate objective of Principle Power is to become a best of breed global renewable energy Independent Power Producer (IPP). The mission of Principle is to select, finance, build, own and operate a balanced portfolio of renewable energy assets. Principle Power is positioned to become a purely renewable iteration of companies such as CalPine, Iberdrola or Mirant. Principle Power will begin power generation through run-of-river hydroelectric plants with follow on expansion into utility scale solar, waste-to-energy conversion and renewable energy storage facilities.

2007 Developments

On Jan. 8, 2008, Jonathan wrote:

Happy New Year! The dawn of a new year has given me occasion to reflect back on 2007. Personally, last year was a year of growth, learning, expansion and a time of deeper understanding. Although filled with action, there have also been important times of meditation on meaning, opportunity and motivation.

Professionally, the year started with a flurry of activity: founding of the Cleantech Investment Committee inside of the Keiretsu Forum, funding of Cool Earth Solar (a CSP company), Earth Class Mail (a SaaS company for the postal industry) and HelioPower (an integrated solar company), followed by sponsorships of the California Cleantech Open and Solar Power 2007…and this was all in the first 6 months! As summer kicked in, I began to think about my personal path and where I could contribute and express my passion.

My deep interest in renewable energy and entrepreneurial ventures has flourished and grown stronger over the past several years. Hence, Alla Weinstein and I are founding a new renewable energy company called Principle Power.

I am looking forward to continuing my contribution in 2008 towards a sustainable planet by creating as much renewable energy as possible. Finally, I thought it would be fun to share, so please find an article which was recently published in Greentech Media on “Cleantech Trends of 2008".

Best wishes for the New Year. I look forward to collaborating and sharing success in 2008.
